600w mh from day 1?

hi all,

i am growing for the very first time now. my seeds have germinated and i see the first sprouts. I am @ day 4 after germanation. the first leaves are starting to come. I am little scared to put my babies under 600w mh bulbs directly as I have read that this is not good until around week 3. is this true or can i put my babies under the heat?

They have lots of moisture atm and i am giving them a nice breeze.
My grow room is 2,40m long * 1,50m large * 2m high. Temp atm is ~25c during the day and ~21, 22c at night.

Thanks a million in adance,

Greetz

As long as the 600 has good distance between the plants you are fine. I drop my seedlings under the 600 about a week after popping up from the soil.

I start at 3ft. It's overkill, but unless I can cram plants under a cfl they go under the 600.
well 3ft is about 0.9 meters, so I'll go from that as I have a 2 meter tent and the light can almost go right to the top.
Here is a pic of my tent.

Thanks Figgy and everybody else for opening my eyes on other tehnics.

I start seeds under my 400 mh but I also have other bigger plants in there. If all you have is a few seedlings then 600 seems like a waste of electricity. They will be fine if the light is far enough away just seems like a waste.

Are they still alive?!

How many made it?
Hi fungus, well some look they are getting better and some still don't look good at all. So my plan is just see what happens the next days and hope for the best. But will keep you updated on everything. Even if I see this as a fail, I think I have learned a lot just in theses couple of days. The guy at the grow shop gave me some medicine btw. I guess it's hocus pocus stuff, but I have nothing to loose and just experience to win, right? So till Monday no water, just nice temp and peace and quiet. Monday I will put little drops of water with the medicine and see if we can save some more.

Yeah my ballast is probably not the best and can output 600W. if I go at it with a screw driver, it can output 400W, but messing with the electrics ain't really my thing, don't want to burn my place down, if I do something wrong! I guess the better ballasts have a switch to turn it up and down, but that'll have to wait till I have a little more cash.
Electriciy will be paid when I move out and that is for now the better way. I will of course try and buy more professional equipment as time comes. o course nice would be to switch to LED some day, but have that cash for the good one :(

What kind of medicine? Be wary of everything and everyone.

Maybe treat the medicine like we discussed germination techniques, and only apply to a couple, not all, of your seedlings just in case something goes wrong.

If they're more dry tomorrow then maybe a couple drops of water, if not then maybe a couple mL's on Monday.

Good luck and keep me updated!

Like this @ThinkDifferent2k15 or this @a senile fungus just be careful of punctuation.

The guy said his plants dried out a week, with no water what so ever and after a couple of days, they were back up.

I can't read it. Whats in it? Npk ratios? List of ingredients? What does it claim to do?i dunno, I can nearly guarantee its about 85% water but I'm still curious :-)
Well to tell you the truth, they keep it a secret. no ingredients on the bottle or on the webpage. hmm suspicious! well I think, I am going to bring it back and ask if the guy is sain or just has the wrong job :)

Its probably a bunch of B vitamins and antioxidants and shit. And water of course.

I don't trust bottles anymore, I'm so glad I went organic lol
