Hey guys so I'm going to be starting my first grow op ..I'm going to be using my coldcellar..its 7x6 room and I have insulated it.. I have a 1000 watt cfl light and a 600 watt hps light.. My plans to use the cfl light for the begginging then switch to the hps light.. Can anyone give me any tips ?

Tips:
Put the seeds in dirt
Make sure it doesn't get too cold
Read a lot on growing
Grow the plant
Smoke it up.

Good dirt - I highly recommend a product that says someting like "professional growing substrate", I get mine from a "Hardware" place near my "Home".
Good water - After a shitload of problems I've switched to RO water, it's made a huge difference.
Good light - I've grown with both CFL's and HID, CFL's are OK for Veg, but produce airy buds. Use the 1KW for veg (what's its K?), and both for flower, or both for the whole grow. I use a mixed spectrum at a 3:1 ratio of MH to HPS for Veg and the other way around for flower. CFL's, I use the same ratio of 6500K to 3000K for Veg, and again, the other way around for Flower.
Air flow - get a 10in oscillating fan blowing on the plants so all the leaves are fluttering in the breeze

7x6 is far too large for just the 600w HPS. 4x4 is about the space a 600w HPS lights well. I would grab a second 600w HPS and use all or part of your florescents too.

Make sure you have exhaust and intake, a cellar is likely to get damp and hold moisture so venting and keeping an eye for molds or bad fungus is key.

Keep a meter with RH and temp in there and monitor, if RH exceeds 50% you know you have work to do. Try to hid the less than 40% if you can.

Tips.

Definitely watch the tips. You will have to chop them off throughout the vegetative cycle. Look through the forums here about "TOPPING," or "F.I.M.ing"

My advice,

50/50 coco coir and perlite, in 7-10 gallon, breathable fabric grow bags for when the plants flower. 3 gallon containers for Veg.
16/8 photoperiod for Veg
12/12 for Flowering

Dechlorinating water is a matter of preference, I've never had problems with chlorinated water.

Make sure your ph is between like 5.9 and 6.4
Test the pH of your H2O.

and remember it's a weed. it'll do okay if you leave it be and just water and feed it

Last tip, Go easy on yourself. harvesting a bumper crop of gnarly phat nugbuddies is a whole lotta work! Take your time. there's no rush.

Thanks for all the replys..

I have a 600w hps light
And a heavy 1000w cfl light..
I think I'll buy new bulbs for both..

The hps like has room for another bulb but its not there to hook one into.. I wanna fill this 6x7 room..could someone write me a game plan of what to do to achieve this with what I have..and can i buy any size bulb or a hps bulb for both? How does that work? Thanks a lot my friends

Also I plan on putting a vent at the top of my door just so air can get through into the house as the doors insulated..and my friend has a charcoal filter. Is this good enough..I figure since its a cold room it'll stay a nice temp

Go with soil on your 1st attemp it's more forgiving and still gets great results, less is more with nutrients only use half strength wot the bottle directs you too at most, your environment is the most important thing and temperature is always hard to keep low, use huge inline fans too much is ok whereas not enough is bad, and keep reading as much as you can

I need to know what to do with my light situation as well though..I wanna get 15 clones and go from there.. I figure since its a cold room it will be fine and I'm gonna put a vent in the door with charcoal filter

Sounds like a plan. @42sq ft figure a little less so u can move around. IMO.
How ya gonna prune em? Soil?

I was thinking of going to hydroponic store and hoping they had some good soil or something..will a 1000w halid be fine for vegging 15 clones ? Then switch to a 600w and 430w hps

I would hang up a light rail and then yes the one lamp will rock the whole 7x6 space....edit...ur footprint should be roughly 4x5 or x6 max

Thanks..so once I get 15 clones I put them Into pails with the 1000 watt halid light over them til they are 12" and then turn that light off and use my 600w and 430 w hps light overtop?
