Is she ready for harvest?

Hi all,

Newb here. This is my first grow, out of the five I've started with, she is the only one I have left. 3 died in transplant shock, 1 was a male : O

So, she's been flowering for exactly six weeks tomorrow. What do ya'll think? Is she ready to be picked? (sorry for the crappy pics)

Also, funny thing. My mom made me feel bad about harvesting, she relates it to "like killing a chicken' hehe. Could I just cut off the buds, and leave the plant be, what would happen?

Thanks much for all your great information!

When the hairs are 80% brownish, you are close. You don't have to pick all the buds at the same time, some will be ready, some not. Then, with a magnifying glass, you'll see the THC droplets around the bud. They will be clear, then milky white, then amber, then brownish. Once they go from milky to amber, then pick.
I fully agree with your Mother. Why kill it? The strain/type of plant you have is a type I've not tried to Rejuvenate, but I always attempt at Rejuving my plants. Read up on rejuvenating, but here's the gist.
Once ready to harvest, cut the top 1/3RD of the top of the plant. Harvest the buds from the 1/3Rd of the middle of the plant, but leave as much leaves as possible. For the lower 1/3RD of the plant, leave 3 to 5, or more smaller buds, & all the foliage. New growth will start at the buds left on the plant. It may take 3 to 4 weeks to see new growth. Once all the cutting is done, re-pot, flush the soil, and and a good organic non-burning fert high in N, because now the plant is back into it's vegetable state. Put her back into 24 hour per day lighting. In 2 or 3 months, you can then start to clone her, maybe get 20 babies, then start to flower her again.
I've got one that's been harvested twice, into vegging right now. Also, crying & curing your buds properly is VERY important. This is the main mistake made, not curing properly. Your Homework goes as follows. Read all about harvesting & curing, & rejuving. Good luck.

The palnt will continue to develop. It may not appear to be showing growth but it is busy finishing the flowering phase.
