Tangilope Hydro Grow

The tangilope has started budding finally. They've been pretty beat up over time, heavy pruning and lollipoping. Today marks 21 days of flower, so they aren't too far behind I suppose. They look OK, but not great, stress related I'm guessin. DDon't mind the mangled leaves, they are like that from being smushed against the door :p also, I think I had the water level too high for the past week or two. Could be a problem that has been corrected. Hopefully no more set backs with this mutant monster. I plan on flowering an Extra week to make up for my mistakes.

Figured I'd update this shit show. The tangilope are just not budding properly. Being it was a mutant I'm not really surprised. I have noticed that my ppm keeps going up and pH dropping. So my only theory I can think of is they've been nute toxic for a while. They show no signs of tox or deficiency, but something is funky about it. Today I lowered the ppm to less than .9 ec and am hoping they can get over this hump. They are 32 days into flower and the Buds are so tiny (possibly N tox). It could just be a crap mutant pheno, I'm not sure. What I do know is that they look OK so I'm stumped. I will let them live but honestly not expecting anything impressive at all. I'm a little disappointed that I can't pinpoint and give the problem a name as right now everything is a question.

Something just hit me, I'll have to research the lineage of the tangilope, but it could be possible that this pheno is a 12 week strain? I mean, if it goes for 12 weeks it would be on track I suppose with the bud development.. I know it's 80% sativa and chocolope x tangie, but maybe a freak long lost long flowering genetic trait slipped into my tangilope bean.. I guess I will know in 5 weeks when I take the rest of the garden down and see how the trichs are. The hairs are so BRIGHT white and so freaking thick, never seen anything like it before. Either way, IF this just happens to be a 12 week flower time I won't be keeping it around, I just don't have that kind of time or space for long flowering strains unfortunately..

I was just getting ready to say that looks like a full blown sativa. They can go 14 or 15 weeks! You DO NOT have N toxicity. To my eyes they look terrific!

Thank you @workinit - I needed to hear that! I've been going crazy wondering what's up with this, a veryyyyyyyy long flower time is the only thing I can make sense of. The description for tangilope states it's a 9 week flower time but there is no way this will finish anywhere near 9 weeks :p I'm going to try to let it finish completely and see what happens :peace::leaf:

Flowering time given by breeders is more of a "guideline" than a rule. One pheno may go 9 weeks and another pheno go 14 weeks and that's grown by pro's with years of experience and a perfect environment. The average grower should add a week or two. Keep it up you look to be on track. I have little to no experience with pure sativa's but I have read that they can be real picky about high N and high TDS.

Thanks guys, much appreciate it :)

I finalllyyyyyy got the ph/EC figured out. Holy hell, what a battle it's been. The ph has been steady all week and ppm slowwwly going down. I'm at .9ec and they are doing much better, the frost on them is insane though the buds are very small, but there are so many bud sites so in time I think they will fill out. I think it's going to be the most sativa plant I've had personally grown. The buds look so weird, I'll get some pics of them soonbongsmilie

Holy shit doc, a 16 week strain should be fun as hell, the high's are SO much different with the super long flowering strains. My dad used to get the imported sativas and it's a whole different world. Have you grown out a long flowering strain like that before or this going to be your first one? Can't wait to hear how she is, I wish I had more space for strains like that but I would be out of smoke and have 3 months left before harvest if I grew those lmao

I've seen it here and there but never expected this plant to do it, but it's done so many other wierd things anything it does in the future won't surprise me lol. This plant has so many good qualities but so many bad qualities at the same time lmao, this pheno seriously has every single gene of all it's predecessors lol!

Today is 7 full weeks of 12/12 so I figured I'd update. Another mutation has been discovered. We will call it "leaf boners". Buds are actually forming now with the most oily resin I've seen in a very long time. When I touch the bud it's not really sticky per say, but more of the feeling of grease, not sticky at all, it's wet and slick. And there is a boat load of it. It will make some stellar concentrates that's for sure. I'm disappointed with the bud production being so slow but I know this will be one of the more potent strains I've grown. Here's a pic of the leaf boner mutation and some bud shots.

On another note, I find my self a little disappointed that I called the clones I had of this plant. I feel that with a 16 wk flower time the yield would be very good and could possibly top 30% thc. I've honestly never felt such oily trichs on a plant that wasn't sticky, I'm very intrigued now :p20150109_160010.jpg20150111_164652.jpg 20150111_164537.jpg 20150111_164454.jpg

In my experience with 2 soil tangilopes they really fill out right at the end, i run em for 9 weeks. Just put 2 in hydro myself... prob would be best to run em a little longer but I'm on a schedule.

What's your fav strain you've run in hydro?

Right on man, these are filling it wicked fast all of a sudden, I've never grown a plant that acted as this one has, it was the most confusing grow I've ever had lol. Hmmm.. My favorite plant.. That's really hard to say, there's been a lot that I like and I'm all about variety, something that is a sativa hybrid is usually my favorite to grow, but I couldn't pick just one 8-)
My strawberry haze is doing that!
Such a weird trait! This plant was wicked weird lol.

So the tangilope has really started filling out finally. It's put on 2x the bud size in the last 10 days or so and all the hairs are now mostly red. Very crystallized, extremely terpy, like almost too terpy if that is possible :p . Extremely greasy/ oily!! Buds are fairly dense, lots of bud sites. So it basically did a 180 and surprised me at the end.

Here's some pics.20150119_155844.jpg 20150119_155500.jpg 20150119_155603.jpg 20150119_155654.jpg 20150119_155836.jpg
