I got a bit of a bug problem

kinda self explanatory. I saw some flies buzzing around my plant today and I don't want them messing anything up. I'm getting a venus fly-trap or two soon, but I just need a quick solution that might keep the flies away for a day or two until I get my fly-trap(s). it would be appreciated if someone gave me an answer as soon as possible. sorry for being a little pushy, but I'm kinda worrisome here.

Keep going out there and mist them with water...

Seems to keep the bugs off of min for a bit...

But as soon as the water drys up/gets absorbed the come back.

I don't think Venus flytraps would do well in the same environment as the weed, they like high temps and high humidity, don't they? How about just putting up some yellow sticky traps?

Ive heard of people puting regular play sand over the top soil,

If they are outside a flys are not going to bother them.

If they are inside you are watering too much. The top of your soil is always wet so they breed in it. Let the soil dry out and they will be gone.

Good luck man. I've been doing battle with gnats for sometime. Sand does not work & after a while it compacts. I let my plants dry out every time so it's not because of damp soil. Your best bet is the sticky paper. I haven't been able to find any locally so I've been using sticky mouse traps. They seem to be making a difference.

The no pest strips do seem to work, but are chemical.

A 5-10 minute blast of 5000ppm CO2 can kill them off too. (so I've read, haven't tried it)

hmm, I'll look into the fly paper. I think I'll just go for the fly-trap for now because I'm not entirely sure where I can get the sticky paper.
