Is C99 Breeding Material?

What about a nice haze? or the lebanese? Jackberry and Sannies Jack are both good to breed with it.

[ Also I don't necessarily want to just breed c99 I just figured why not make a cross of her and try to bring down some of the longer sativa flowering times. That would be sweet!

I don't know much about the Lebanese, but if it's a landrace and a good one - it would be a real good opiton. Sannies Jack is going to be nice breeding stock. Of course C99 and Jack are related, but it's somewhat distant at this point and both lines have been worked.

I have know clue where Lebanese is but if it is a Land Race it will probably need some breeding to come to something I want.

Jack the Ripper x C99 sounds like awesomeness. JTR is the only thing from TGA that I ever felt was keeper worthy.

I think it depends which breeder hey, ive grown a few female seeds outside and never had an issue. They grow big, long, dense colas though so i can see why one would avoid it

Never ran Space Queen, so I am not sure how much C99 shows up in it. I have ran some Space Queen hybrids though, and wasn't that impressed.

We have some A11genius F3 left but somebody said not to use any polyhybrids for breeding. So i assume any other Bodhi strains are out of the race then? I know somebody will shout "open pollination" in a minute but i can only keep pollen for a while from the some males i can keep long enough and use it on a few branches of the "production" females.

I've always wanted to cross some C99 to other strains as well. I think C99 x Blue Dream would be a good cross. Give the C99 more support, lower the flower time, and add even more of a fruity taste but keep about the same type of high - and I bet it would yield, for those that need that.

If you're creative you can still do an open pollination. I've been thinking about this particular problem. Take very small male clones, throw them into flower almost immediately after they're established in their own self contained box with some kind of additional filter on the exhaust. Bag up pollen from all those plants and use it to paint some lower branches on all the females carefully.

The best chance we have is in the summer when we can put some plants in a friend's garden. Last year we got some RKU pollinated with a Goji OG male. It's just a matter of the right timing. That could be a good project for this summer then.

didn't live up to what i had it hyped it to be..

I thought it was good, not great. I didn't bother keeping a cut (which were a bitch to root) as a mother plant. It's so uniform and inexpensive that if I'm ever wanting to grow it again i'll just germinate a seed.

Might be me, but I thought the 'holy grail' label was in reference to it being a short flowering sativa.

But I hear ya....reminds me of the claims for herijuana.

That said, for something not quite so wow - it's really good smoke. I love it during the day. The flavors are great and the high is super awesome during the day. Usually puts me in a good mood.

That's a good review, and I agree with it. I'll likely always have some around for that reason, and also because the bright pineapple taste kills, imo.

As to breeding, I'll never understand the obsession people have. If I want c-99 crossed with something - say, Blood Orange, for instance - I take buds of both, grind 'em, and roll. Voila....an instant cross !

You can totally use poly hybrids for breeding. Shit that's most the market to begin with. Besides if those are Bodhi's gear, I'd totally do an open pollination simply to preserve the line. I'd love to give those a go and can only think of one other breeder that has that line available.

there are a few guides on keeping pollen, I've failed the one time I did as I waited a tad too long with out trying to preserve it.

For me the breeding was just a side project. Its something I've always wanted to do, and when I first ran the C99 I got 2 very different phenos of it. One grew much more compact, it was basically a 14 inch cola when it was done flowering, the side branches only got 2-3 inchs long, it was perfect for my SOG style grow. Sadly I hadn't taken a clone of that plant until it was about 3 weeks into flower because the branching was so minimal. The clone rooted no problem, I was thrilled, but then it spent about 6 months trying to reveg and only got 8 inchs tall , it did not want to reveg. Sooo I decided during that time to use it as the seed mother since it wasn't gonna be a clone giver. Along the way I found a male Sinmint cookies that smelled like menthal and eucalyptus while it was just vegging. When I flowered the clone and found it was a male, it also was the fastest of all my Sinmint plants to show sex. It had nice structure, indica dominance but had some hybrid traits too. It seemed like it could be just about a perfect match for the momma. So far everything I've seen come out of these beans has turned out really nice in one way or another. My keeper so far is an awesome mix of both parents, but the other girls that are flowering are really pretty also. Caked with resin, prolly from the Sinmint side, very nice smells, just not the bud structure or yield to keep them. I've got one that is noteably different and more indica leaning that is young I'm eager to see what she does. Anyway sorry for rambling, its just exciting, and I imagine its the same for most others that make a cross.

I believe anything you breed/cross will need work and phenotype exploration and growing out.

Landraces are excellent breeding candidates as they are often stable heirlooms basicly.

So they are good for adding hybrid vigor possibly, depending..

All of the pollen game is somewhat dice rolling IMO.
