giving defoliation during flower a try

Yep, red coloration can indicate a N deficiency. I've seen this toxic/deficiency stuff drive people to drinking. The "damage" is no worse than trying to figure it out.
Yes, and I said straight up, it was recovering from lack of N.

This is my only handle. What's up, did some asshole steal one of my posts again? Give me a link please.

Edit - this is what I came up with. No plagarism I can find. http://search.gardenweb.com/search/nph-ind.cgi?term=superthrive or superjive&searchfor=gw

This guy has some interesting "experiments". A little reckless regarding setup, not scientific, but fun.

I know it's old but it's word for word your writing with absolutely no credit

Ya'll need to check out that new thread and his take on coco using canna A&B versus soil using regular plant food. Guy even measures something I've been preaching which is testing the leaf chlorophyll levels. If you really want to tweek this stuff you need 2 meters - light and chlorophyll.

But a chlorophyll meter is only good to check the nitrogen in the leaves correct? That meter won't show you why your plant is lacking the nitrogen, that is the question. But still very interesting I guess you would be able to tell which strains use more nitrogen and which ones store more nitrogen.

How does everyone feel about shults potting soil? I have my purple paralysis mother plant in a 2.5 gallon pot with shultz potting soil and it has been in this container since spring time. I'm pretty blown away. I have started feeding it hydroponic nutes recently (whatever is in the veg res at the time). She hasn't been under a light in over a month as well. Any thoughts how this thing is as healthy as it is?20150127_142718.jpg

Come on man - is this a trick question? You know that if you had defoliated that poor thing you would have about a pound of big ass sticky buds by now.... I can't see how any light at all is ever going to reach those bottom budzzzzz ...

Lol, I'm actually guilty of some pretty heavy pruning of this plant :P But that's off topic :bigjoint: I can't wait to flower it eventually though, she will be a monster. But the shultz potting soil, I never would have thought it would work so well for so long, especially with out repotting it. This thing literally just got water for 6 months, I was impressed it works so well for mother plants

Thanks Alpha. I'm gonna look into the Shultz, sounds promising. We also like to keep our mothers in a soil mix but lately we've put a few into pure coco. Jury is still out but so far they're looking good in the coconuts.

No problem Knott, the one I used was Schultz moisture control with the 6 month slow release formula. I was in a pinch and couldn't find what I needed and got some of the Schultz at the tractor supply store. Been really impressed with it, I was expecting I'd have to repot it into a different soil within a month of planting it, but it looked great so I left it. It was easy to notice when the extended release nutes ran out because I got a deficiency all of a sudden and added my hydro nutes and it cleared right up. The Schultz is super cheap too, maybe $5 for a big bag of it. Definitely would recommend it for mother plants from my experience with it, I'll be using it again that's for sure. I've been wanting to try coco for a while but haven't took the plunge yet
