looking for advice on flush period

Well it's been 50 days since I swithed to 12/12 and was wondering if it was about the right time to start flushing and for how long? First 2 pics are pineapple o.g. and the last is a og kush cross. I have a scope but it's hard for me to tell I have cataracts and can't see to good so any help would be appreciated

Most OG's finish in 7-9 weeks. You're looking good so far, but still have a ways to go. It's really a personal preference, but I like to chop right when I first start seeing amber trichs.

I've only flushed two plants, and for some reason, one was quite smelly afterward. I assumed it was the fertilizer I had been dumping into it lol.

Do not flush your plants unless it's an emergency. Like, if you spill a whole bottle of fertilizer into one of your pots, then take it outside to a hose, or even the bathtub, then use twice the amount of water than there is medium. 5 gallon pot? Then flush with ten gallons of water. But, again to be clear. Only in an emergency should you consider flushing.

The guy at my hydro shop was really pushing sledgehammer and telling me to follow the fox farm nute schedule, which has 2 flushes on the time chart.

It's nice to hear honest advice from someone with nothing to gain lol.

So yeah, when I see the first few spots of amber under the scope without needing to move it around to find them, I flush.
I run a few gallons of fresh, clean water through them. At that point I let them dry out, might take 4-5 days. When they have dried out enough that they are getting ready for water, I put them in a dark room (without watering them) for another 3 days, then harvest.

Prove it?

Even if it is the "placebo effect" then I am fine with it, but considering other people have tested it without knowing the difference, I find it hard to be the placebo effect. Don't be mad that my bud is better than yours, you cant help it.

If you really want to test it (like I did) grow clones, flush one, dont flush the other. give a 1/2 quarter of each to your friends, without telling them, and let them tell you what they prefer.

If you're growing organic you wont need to flush anything. If your using chems, bottled nutrients (Fertilizer salts) Here is some advice, water until a little bit is coming out the bottom into the catch pan. Take a tds meter and test the runoff if your ppms are higher than what your putting in then you know your plants aren't using it and you have a salt build up. A while back I used some fox farm I had bestie blooms ,open sesame and chaching. My plants started looking like crap and and i couldn't figure it out. I checked my runoff and it was 1500ppm. Like pinworm said only do it unless you have a major problem. My advice to you is throw the chemicals in the trash and grow organic. I use riddle's boiling method. If your not familiar with it, you do a normal watering but with boiling water 3 days before you chop. This is for quality, not quantity. As to the why, here's a copied explanation from chuck estevez

the whole point of his process is FERMENTATION. the plant is full of glucose,sugars,starches. How do you make those ferment? Cut off the oxygen they receive. So, you come to the end and you are ready to chop, You pour the water on the roots, therefore, killing them, WHALLA, no oxygen getting to roots, said sugars etc, start to ferment. So the curing starts happening after about 3 days of no o2. And you will see the plant wilt after a couple days and change color, someone mentioned earlier about it being a pain to cut them off after doing this, easy solution, cut fan leaves off over that 3 day waiting period.

Basically just starts the curing process earlier to improve quality.
