The edible section is rather slow so I'm just looking for a seasoned cook that could give me a answer to probly a stupid question thanx

Oh yea the question is I'm trying to make some hard candies and gummys , while I've had success with the butter and cookies I want to make other stuff and all the recipes say x amount of cannabis oil / hash oil ect now is this the same oil as infused cocnut oil or are they referring to the oil you make when you strip dry bud in alcohol or some other solvent haven't found a answer so hopefully someone experienced can give me the answer thanx again

I've made lollis and hard candy using cannabutter.

If you're gonna make oil you want QWET. Everclear. The other methods you use either isopropyl alcohol or butane, a no no in edibles.

So not cocnut oil ??
You can use coconut oil. The only problem is the limited amount of oil the candies/gummies would call for. That's why if the lolli recipe calls for a few tablespoons you need to make sure that oil packs a punch.

What do you think the difference between Everclear and isopropyl alcohol is, exactly? Except that isopropyl evaporotes much more efficiently.

OP-- most edibles recipes, including hard candy, are usually suited to ether using cannabutter or mj coconut oil so I think you'll be fine.

So when it calls for hash oil this is the process of stripping the thc from the plant with a solvent everclear , ISO alchol ect..

Everclear is grain alcohol and iso is not. Want me to break down the compounds for you?

Goto any legit cook and ask if they use iso when making oil for edibles.

what backs your statement up? I was a chef for 18 years, certified 2yr in a culinary arts school, worked for many 4 star restaurants. just to give you my bio. I currently use qwet, qwiso, bho, bubble hash, kief for all my edibles w/o any issues to myself, my wife or my patients in over 5 yrs of making edibles and such.

I back my own statement up. I guess all that schooling didn't teach you common sense. I know QWISO and BHO can be used, but if all the iso and butane is not evaporated the people that consume your subpar edibles are POTENTIALLY ingesting toxic leftovers (I would hope you double boil, heat or vac the shit out of your end product).

There are big differences between QWET, Bubble Hash and Kief compared to QWISO and BHO when it comes to consumption. Don't even try to tell me using QWISO and BHO is "Medicinal Grade Edibles", your patients and wife might not mind because they don't know any better. You do you Mario Batali.

what findings do you have to back your statement, or i it a blanket statement? all my bho and qwiso is properly purged. I stake my personal rep on it and would NEVER endanger anyone with amy type of foods. I was taught, if I wouldn't eat it, then don't serve it.

thank you for your comments and time.

Blanket statement I guess? What findings do you have? Any lab analysis of your QWISO or BHO? I don't have any because I use nothing but organic material and could consume any ingredient before, during or after making my CannaButter (see recipe below), this also goes for making QWET. I would put money on my CannaButter being a cleaner byproduct for edibles than your BHO or QWISO. Cleaner meaning absolutely no trace of the solvent used.

I'm sure your purging is top notch and end product is not endangering to consumers. Shit, I'd eat your edibles if you were to send me some.

No "newbie" who is making oil for edibles should be using iso or butane until they master the skill of producing a fully purged, clean byproduct.

CannaButter:
Ratio: 1 oz bud/trim to 1 lb of salted butter
Preheat Oven: 250 degrees
Preheat Slow Cooker: High

Prep/Decarb: Finely chop bud/trim. Spread on baking sheet, turn off oven, place baking sheet in oven for 10 minutes.

Clarify Butter: Melt butter on low heat. Scoop up white froth and discard. You will lose some weight.

Combine: Add bud/trim to clarified butter in slow cooker. You can place mixture in a measuring cup that sits in slow cooker if you don't have enough material. Put on lid and cook for 1 hour on high heat.

Stir and mash mixture. Set slow cooker temperature to low.

Cook for a total of 6-12 hours, stirring with a light mash every hour.

Strain: I use a small stainless steel strainer I bought at Target. You can also use cheese cloth. Once strained into container set in fridge overnight.
