Help me fix a broken timer

Here are some pictures of the inners of a pin timer.

Note the black button on the top right (under the white lever which comes out easily). When that button is depressed the outlet will provide power. When released it will not. However I'm unsure of what allows the pins to work.

Edit: my first instinct is to resodder all the connections near the gears at the top left.

When these things are working should I hear any kind of sound? Like the ticking of a clock? My guess is yes but I've never heard one work myself, this thing was dead on arrival.

Dude If you don't know what your doing then go buy yourself a good timer that can handle the amps your lights will throw at the contacts on initial start up.

Don't be cheap on light timers, there a vital piece of equipment.

Also- Electrical projects are fun and relatively safe when working with low, DC voltage, but this timer has high current, high ac voltage running the majority of the circuit. Any bad wiring or solder points could have dire consequences.

Why? At the risk of burning your home down. I wouldn't be against a repair like that but if you have to ask......don't do it. And on top of that why risk being half way I to flower and everything herming due to a bad timer.
