Yeah, those 1Ks heat up a lot. But, with the fan hooked up you'll get that air out pretty good. With the 1K you'll find yourself having the hood higher above the plants than a 600. 85 is pushing the limits unless you're running CO2. Ideal temps are between 72 and 75. I don't think you'll have any problems though if the room is cooled with central air. But, you'll make your central air work much harder and that'll really effect your electric bill.

I'm going to be doing something similar. What I'll be doing is covering the vent to my room and running a portable AC like this...http://www.homedepot.com/p/LG-Electronics-8-000-BTU-Portable-Air-Conditioner-and-Dehumidifier-Function-with-Remote-Control-48-Pints-Day-LP0814WNR/204684040?keyword=8000 btu portable air conditioner

I'll have the AC in the room and my exhaust fan will bring in that air from the vents on the bottom of the tent. The cool air will then go through the plants up to the filter which is drawing in air from the inline fan. Here's the thing though, the exhaust duct from the portable AC gets really hot. What I did in my last setup with a portable AC is put an insulation sleve on the duct and it isolated the heat really well. Couldn't feel any heat from the exhaust duct at all.

Here's an insulation sleeve...http://www.homedepot.com/p/Master-Flow-6-in-Diameter-R-6-Ductwork-Insulation-Sleeve-INSLV6/100396953

Pretty cheap at Home Depot. Only $6.45 and it makes the world of difference.

Hope that helps.
I've been looking on Craigslist for a portable ac. Found a few ...I was thinking something like this. .. 20150221_183720.jpgwhat are your thoughts on it?

mr sunshine move the carbon filter to the front of the hood and that is the most effective.......... u remove one fan from the system and only have 1 ejection hole

Kind Sir......u understand the amount of air a 8 inch pulls is nearlly double of a 6 inch fan ( u are going to need a powered intake for your air to lessen the air drawl from the cracks and other things that house mold and fungi )

i would use a reducer on your hood to lower it down to a 6 inch so u can use that .........supplying 400cfm is alot easier then supplying 720cfms

oh mr sunshine

your intake if u wrap the whole inside of the area on the bottom (line the inner wall with ducting) and cap the end u can make slits in the ducting for the air to excape out u can supply the air from different points to cool the plants and tent instead of one/two massive ejections points for it

might work good for u kind sir i was playing around with the idea

First I dont know what your trying to say why even start shit.

The first post u have of mine was trying to tell people there should be a good ventilation thread...

2nd post is me telling someone not to talk about their problem on my page

What r u trying to say???
Well your first post sounded like you were starting this thread as a place for people to post questions about properly ventilating.

Then you go on and ask people not to post in this thread.

Seemed contradictory to me, I don't think I'm the only one.

Thank you for sharing
No need to edit and/or delete things, I'm not being argumentative or accusatory, nor trying to start drama.

I see now where I made my mistake, I imagine @mr sunshine made a similar error.

Hopefully you get your ventilation questions answered...

BTW, have you come up with any better way to ventilate? What's the plan? How are you gonna do it?

I'm gonna be building a space within a space, like you, and will be needing to find the best way to ventilate too...

Hope you find a way bub, good luck to you.

No problem man, I'm glad we got it figured out.

Have you figured out how to ventilate your space yet?

Yes lets start over.

First i was debating on using 2x4 and poly as it supposedly holds in moisture so humidity will keep if you do it good i suppose?

Im talking with justtugh to figure out my plan..probably use a reducer..

What is your situation?

It all depends how im going to do my room in a room. Im stressing over it, going to lowes tomorrow!!lol.

What are you building yours out of??

I wouldn't use an intake fan. Leave it passive. Your 8" fan will take care of it. And yes, the portable AC will wonk just like that. Remember to insulate the exhaust duct from the portable AC as it creates a ton of heat. You can also insulate your exhaust duct coming out of the cabinet to contain even more heat.

Looking at your picture it appears that you are going to have 2 inline fans. One for the scrubber and one for the hood. If this is correct there's a much better way to do this and save money and power.

First, have a couple 6" holes cut at the bottom of your cabinet for the intake (separate them a little for more air spread). Either inside your cab or outside, attach an air conditioning filter over the holes. Make sure it's sealed. This will help keep bugs and dust out as well as help with the light (although you may have to do more for the light if it's an issue).

Then use this configuration with your 8" fan...

Carbon filter (mounted high) > duct > hood > duct > fan w/controller > duct > outside

If you can, mount your fan outside your grow to reduce a little heat.
If your fan is a little loud, get a muffler for it and it will help.
If you use insulated ducting from your light to your fan and then outside it will help with both heat and noise

You'll just have to experiment and see what works best for you.

Lets say worst case scenario ill have to buy a grow tent..

Im trying to enclose a corner of the room but wish i could see examples of other peoples if possible?

I also have this closet with long sliding doors..its only 2 ft deep, but 7 ft wide and tall.
I could extend the depth by taking the doors off, and frame a little area coming out of the closet to make a 4x4 area even?

if u are going to build this

4x4x7 ..........not the 2 .....2 foot is enough room for 1 plant in a 7 gallon soil bag or 1 plant in 3 gallon with 6 inches of room

here is how to build it frame it out .....use 2 inch foam board putting it in the middle of the framing (u are filling the gaps) .......after they are filled then u poly wrap the walls ......after that u poly wrap the outer walls ......now the inside u hang drywall flat white painted drywall.........on the outside u use paneling ........the ceiling the same thing 2 inch foam board and make sure the poly wrap seals it

u just made a sealed thermal blocked area ...........now u need to make a entry point ....a intake point ....a exhaust point

and again man i am telling u the tent it is the same thing but not permit u can break it down and take it with u or after u are done sell it .......but that tent will last u the whole grown life
