It's because the people that pay them via campaign contributions don't like ____________, so, instead of voting according to who they're supposed to represent (citizens), and they want to keep their job, they play the corporate/political game and act as a mouthpiece for corporate interests, and they come in all colors, not just red

Republicans are simply dumbfounded in regards to MJ. Most of them have smoked it, but most rely (in their mind, at least) on the votes of perceived non-smokers. So they make some dumb philosophical argument against MJ, thinking it will get them votes from their constituents.

Jeb Bush is a complete total fucking idiot. He smoked MJ in college. And (if some reports are to be believed) he sold or otherwise distributed it as well in college. But once elected, he supported mandatory jail sentences (and opposed treatment) for non-violent possession charges. Except, of course, in the case of his own daughter. He's a fucking hypocrite.
