Have you ever studied Cannabis and how can I?

Hello!

I am a young man filled with love for the cannabisplant, that includes industrial hemp. I have ever since I started smoke 3 years ago(I've done so almost daily since) wanted to work with the plant in all forms.

And of course I would like to go to a university or something like that to get an actual education on this subject.

So my question is, have you ever studied, or do you know someone who has, the cannabis plant, at an officiall course?

Many people on here study it by growing it, smoking it, eating it, etc.

You want an education just on Cannabis? I have seen courses about beer, where people learn the entire spectrum of it from chemistry to craft and get credits for it. I could see Colorado in the not too distant future offering similar breadth courses in their University system.

But what's preventing you from teaching yourself about it?

Get a degree in agriculture. It will teach you what you need to know to do research on cannnibis after. It's a plant.

I've taken courses at Oaksterdam. I'm taking a hemp history class tomorrow at international cannabis university. If you don't know very much, it really helps. Since you've been smoking for three years, you probably already know quite a bit. If you take the same amount of time you would have spent on classes, on advocating, growing, reading and talking to people in the industry, you would probably learn more. Have fun.

Actually in a degree for horticulture and crop production, you learn a lot from it, my dream is to have a sort of conservation nursery, and by then hopefully it will be legal so that too, who knows, I want to research plants in general, but if your looking to get a better understanding of plants in general, community college plant classes if your lucky enough that they offer it, audit the course if its just personal enrichment what you learn will definitely serve you throughout your life, teaching you how to feed yourself, to heal yourself, hehe

An excellent question- 'young' man... such questions betray wisdom beyond a tender number of years.

By all means, pursue as many of the above avenues as you can manage! Oaksterdam University is a great place for cannabis specific knowledge, a horticultural science degree is excellent for more general studies- and I'm here to tell you that nothing beats getting your own hands dirty!

I'm doing the kind of research you speak of and it's the most fulfilling thing I've done with my time on this Earth. Fortunately, the field is young and there's much to explore.

The only 'don't'?

I'm doing what came naturally from my own educational background, interests, talents and imagination.

I hold a BS in Business Administration, Colorado State University,, class of '95. I've worked everywhere from restaurants to law firms to greenhouses. I'm a gearhead, tinkerer and a natural talent is finding better solutions to problems than the ones most might accept. The other word for that is 'engineering.'

No one can tell you where your best work/talents lie, that's something you have to find for yourself.

A four year university degree is valuable for the breadth of education you'll receive, specific cannabis studies for their depth of specific knowledge.

My grandfather spent his life in education and a few pithy sayings of his still ring in my head, like this one;

'Education is the most selfish of enterprises; no one can give you one but yourself- and once you have it, no one can take it away.'

To which I'd add;

Educating yourself may be selfish, so what creates value to the world, rewards to your life and money in your pocket is sharing its fruits. That might be technique, technology, time spent helping others...

I started my classroom knowledge at the cannabis college in detroit. I frequent the class for updates quarterly. Lota of good people and world known growers are brought in quite randomly for each course period. Id suggest you find a program like such.
