cfl bulbs in hid reflector

Evening all.

I just built a veg room which currently has a great big fluro light in it more suited to lighting a shed than vegging under.

Am I missing something, or will a cfl bulb screw into my old reflector that came with a HPS bulb? Presumably an e40 fitting is a standard size and the reflector would take either?

If I add an adapter to the end of the lead so it plugs into the wall instead of a ballast I'm set?

Yes? No?

Thanks my man. I figured that was probably the case, but I know nothing about cfl apart from the igniter per se is part of the bulb unlike HID which needs an external ballast.

Unless anybody else knows different....?

Quick trip to Galway tomorrow for me. :)

That old hood has a simple porcelain fitting with some metal for + and -, I don't see why it wouldn't work as long as it fits. If you connect two wires to the bulb and it lights up it will work in the old hood as well.

Yeah, I though that. It's 240v in, power to bulb, light out?

It was the wiki article on e40 fittings that made me think it was possible. Having said that, eBay seems to list cfl OR hid fittings, nothing stating 'universal'.

Tha Giant CFL do indeed work in tha HID Reflector, fitting is the same.. just no need for ballast, any kettle lead male/female adaptor will do..

Found out running that 2k for almost 2mths now that some strains just dont like that much light. Blue Dream started throwing nanners, diesel foxtails. I have a strain called Mamasan that loves it and has produced buds the size of beer cans, also the golden goat. pic of mama*(2-3 wks to go) I never had indoor buds this badass b4 lol.

LED guys in particular. Nasty folk. They are basically junkies, can't trust them. It's the UV in particular.
