that ballasts kicking off and on so many times prolly not good for it. Is the 400 an air cooled hood? is the ballast in the room with it , and is it putting off alotta heat?

how many degrees does it lower the room by putting the ballast outside of?
10 degrees if its a hot one...I have half mine in my flwr room and half out for the winter mths. I run a 600w in my veg, its air cooled but I dont have anything hooked up to it so it will warm up the room a bit. The ballast on the 600 runs hot, I have am oscillating fan on it. that alone makes it run cooler as well

i'm going to experiment with that..it's something i could do since my light is 1000 not air cooled.

Your best bet for the heat is as follows. First, for a 400w you should have no smaller than a 15' x 15' room to really let the heat dissipate. Put a sprinkler in the room spraying water at all times. You want the foliage good and wet, always. You'll want to keep the actual light itself out of the grow room. Have it out of the room and around a corner, then set up a series of mirrors to reflect the light into the room. And as an added bonus, it's a scientifically proven fact that plants grow more vigorously when they can admire themselves in a mirror. I can't find the article right now, so you'll just have to trust me. These simple steps should get you on the right track. Good luck.

Your temps are good for not having an air cooled hood..my shirt air cooled and I still can't run it without a window ac.
i hear ya..i don't have any AC in that bathroom and i already cut away the door so i can connect it all but i would still need to make an air vent in order for it all to work. also, my friend who put it together used a 4" instead of the 6" that my hood is:

Just picked up some guerilla glue#4 . Some candyland. And 1 gods gift...

Please respect my thread. No haters .. The clones are heavy, weigh about a pound each. does that mean it will Yield a lb? I'm happy with 13 ounces off each one.... o yea, I'm using a 400 watt hps...
when they pre-flower count the number of pistils on the first flower only and that is how many zips you'll yield for each.
