Here is the mix I am using. Now I know I can switch out the bone for Fish bone meal. But at what percentage in gallons do I mix it at? What about the Blood what can I use and how much thanks. Will be outdoors so trying to keep animals unattracted if possible/ Would like to only water them no nutes just fed from whats in the soil. thanks

Is this a useable Fish Bone meal?

Can I use this to replace the worm castings?

LC's Soiless Mix #2:
6 parts Pro Mix BX or HP / Sunshine Mix (any flavor from #1 up)
2 parts perlite
2 parts earthworm castings
Powdered (NOT PELLETIZED) dolomite lime @ 2 tablespoons per gallon or 1 cup per cubic foot of the soiless mix.
If you use a 3 qt. saucepan as “parts” in the amounts given above, it equals about 1 cu. ft. of soiless mix and you can just dump in a cup of powdered dolomite lime.
But, a "part" can be anything from a tablespoon to a five gallon bucket. Just use the same item for all of the
"parts".

If you want to use organic nutes like blood, bone and kelp...
Dry Ferts:
1 tablespoon blood meal per gallon or 1/2 cup per cubic foot of soil mix
2 tablespoons bone meal per gallon or 1 cup per cubic foot of soil mix
1-tablespoon kelp meal per gallon or 1/2 cup per cubic foot of soil mix or Maxicrop 1-0-4 powdered kelp extract as directed
1 tablespoon per gallon or 1/2 cup per cubic foot of Jersey Greensand to supplement the K (potasium) in the Kelp Meal and seaweed extract.

Ok, so kudos to you for wanting to dump the slaughterhouse stuff, good for you.
I got down writing this a while back, it's my recipe, and it works extremely well for me, no teas needed, I do add aloe teas, coco water teas, AACTs, SSTs, and one dose of dandelion/comfrey fpe.
my recipe.
it's a lil difficult to give the EXACT recipe, reason being is much of it is recycled vermifire, but I can tell you my amendments and the ratios of that which will help you get on the right path.
first if you are making from scratch stick to the 33/33/33 mix.
33% compost/vermicompost (homemade if possible) I like a 50/50 mix of both leaf compost and EWC
33% aeration
33% peat
the per cubic foot (about 7.5 gallons)
add one cup of the following
neem meal, kelp meal, crab meal.
then per cubic foot add HALF cup
insect meal (mashed up dried insect chicken feed)
alfalfa meal
fish bone meal
that's all for the nutes
then the minerals
3-4 cups per cubic foot, I like a mix of different minerals, if you are re-using your soil maybe avoid azomite.
must have one cup of oyster flour per cubic foot to control peats acidity rock phosphates, gypsum, basalt, granite, (although it can be radioactive.....) greensand or langbeinite if you are re-using your soil, but don't expect much from them at first
that's all the normal shit.
it's in my amendments where the difference is maybe the insect meal too), biochar, pumice, volcanic rock, and rotten tree log chunks are what I use.
of the 33% aeration I go 50% of that as standard conventional aeration, volcanic rock or pumice, then 25% biochar and 25% rotten wood chunks.... in fact i'm pretty sure I have more than 33% aeration in my mix if you account for all the rotten wood chunk, but damn, I tell ya my plants LOVE this mix, and it retains the PERFECT amount of water.
if you have any doubt add more aeration, never hurts, especially if it's biochar or rotten wood.
on top of all that add a cup of oyster shells (again chicken feed area) per cubic foot

go with kelp meal not extract also the greensand is good, but ignore it as a mineral for the first year, it's good for a notill, but don't count it as your minerals for the first two or three harvests. Takes forever to break down, you want rock phosphates/gypsum/glacial rock dusts/etc for your minerals

Thanks Grease for the time and effort looks like a great mix. But I was hoping for just some substitutes for blood and bone meal I like this recipe and have most of the ingredients but I don't like the blood and bone. I'm thinking of using Fish bone meal, Alfalfa meal, Rock dust or phosphates and Kelp meal I'm ditching the greensand. What amount of Fish meal, Alfalfa meal, Rock dusts and kelp meal per cup should I use per gallon? Thanks

well, for a cubic foot you want a total of four cups of nutrients, so if you are replacing just the blood and bone meal I would replace them with fish bone meal, alfalfa, and neem meal.
you should have kelp and rock dust already in your mix, those are a must-have.
you want a mixture of nutrients to get a good base of all the micros as well as being different release types, for example guanos, blood meal, fish meal, those things are relatively soluble and more readily available to the plant.
I have found that the slower the release the better.
For a simple answer (i'm not known for a lot of those)
You could ditch the blood meal for alfalfa meal. Honestly though, the alfalfa isn't nearly as high in nitrogen as the blood meal.
If you are looking for a nutrient with a similar NPK rating then you'd want a guano of some kind, obviously the high nitrogen one.
ditch the bone meal for fish bone meal (better anyways).
I would advise you to not go with the guano though, you can do better, like alfalfa meal, and insect frass, or alfalfa and crab meal, or alfalfa and neem meal.
The amount I use is four cups per cubic foot, so a cubic foot is like 7.5 gallon or so.
So for one gallon i'd amend with a half cup of nutrients.

Ok thanks again Grease great info. You have me on track for today anyway lol. I'm gonna try and find some insect frass, crab meal or neem meal plus alfalfa to replace the blood but I have not seen these anywhere in my area may have to order online. Depending how difficult they are to find I may have to use guano for veg but Im hesitant because im trying to deter animals don't need no digging. :) Thanks

hmm, if you are outside you may want to avoid the crab meal, just in case, I imagine it would attract critters like fish products do.
I think the neem meal is what you want, it also is good to deter bugs, and is a really great slow release even NPK nutrient.
Neem and alfalfa is what i'd do.

ya crab would prob attract some coons at least lol. That's great, I just found some Neem meal.

So now the recipe is Fish bone, Alfalfa, neem, kelp, and Rock dust. is that enough am I missing anything?

6 parts pro mix bx
2 parts perlite (I'm leaving it out.)
2 parts Ewc
dolomite lime 2 tbs per gal
so when u said half a cup of nutrients is that of each nutrient or all together? The mix I had called for 1 tbs of bone and kelp per gal and 2 tbs of blood per gal.

yeah, I meant half a cup of nutrients total per gallon, not counting minerals.
I'd do an eighth of a cup of each, and a quarter cup of neem meal. you'd be fine at that rate.
hmm lets see, there is 16 tbsp. to a cup..
so that'd be 2tbsp of each of the following
fish bone
alfalfa
kelp
and 4 tbsp. of neem.
That's per gallon.
Keep in mind you won't be filling your pots all the way so you don't want to use the container size for your math, that's why I prefer cubic feet as opposed to gallons, easier to do the math.
So like a 5 gallon container usually hold 4- 4.5 gallons of soil, so that's a big difference when you multiply that by however many plants you are doing.

oh, and a half cup of minerals per gallon, not counting oyster flour, if you use it. I see you use the d.lime for ph control, so you really don't need oyster flour.
Make sure you are using the kelp meal, not the kelp extract, it's different and the meal is a lot better.

Thanks so much you have bee an enormous help. Will be sure to get the kelp meal not extract. Also will be digging 5 gallon holes not pots so going to make sure there damn close to holding 5 gal of soil thanks for the heads up though.:)

Is there any other minerals I'm missing out on with this recipe would u consider adding any thing else?

Fish bone meal @ 2 tbsp. per gal
Alfalfa meal @ 2 tbsp. per gal
Kelp meal @ 2 tbsp. per gal
D. Lime @ 2 tbsp. per gal
Neem meal @ 4 tbsp. per gal
Glacial Rock Dust @ 1tbsp. per gal

6 parts pro mix BX
2 parts EWC/Compost

The recipe also suggest using liquid karma at 1 tbsp. per gal of water before you "Cook" it . I have a bottle of GO's Diamond black could I just use this instead? They suggest using 5 -10 ml of DB per gal of water should I cut this in 1/2 or even down to a 1/4? Thanks again

You are welcome, happy I could help.
I don't know, I don't have any experience with those guys.
you may want a lil more aeration, and if its outdoors, you may want more than a five gallon hole, but you'd be fine.
I'd say your measurements are pretty good though.
