Watering?

I read that 20% runoff is desired in soil grow. My pots are 3 gal fabric pots.
I've put about an inch and a half of perlitite on the bottom of the pot and filled the rest with a 50/50 mix of Happy Frog and Ocean Forest.

Here's the thing. Water seems to drain out fairly quickly however if I go for a 20% runoff they seem to get droopy as if overwatered.
I should have mixed in perlite with the soil? 25%?

I'm using the recommended dosage of nutes from Grow More.

Should I be watering with plain water every other watering? My Autoflower girls are at 5 weeks now and flowers are coming on strong.

On edit...I will add that they don't stay "droopy" for more than 18 hours or so so maybe this is normal?

Dude the 20 percent run off thing is such bad advice and there's lots of people giving it. Do not water your pots super heavy especially if the plant doesn't have a good root system just water moderately just make sure your distributing the water evenly in your pot. When I water there is rarely any run off

Thanks man. I thought 20% was excessive.
Would you feed every other watering or just keep doing what I'm doing?

I water with plane water at least once a week it doesn't hurt your plants to feed every watering but your smoke will be so much smoother and flavorful if you give them plain water every week

In my opinion it is necessary to water till you get run off. This allows you to remove salt and other build ups that may occur. But I only shoot for about 10%. And as far as autos I've grown some pretty good potent strains and just as good as most so called high grade strains you can buy in my area. Auto white widow from dinafem is just as potent as many photo strains. I like autos. I have a few in my veg tent as we speak.

my only thing about auto flower is here in Michigan we are only aloud so many plants so I prefer having 4 to 5 foot bushes that produce 5 to 7 ounces a piece autos are not bad weed. They are good if you like doing lots of small plants at one time

When You're allowed 0 plants, autos are prefered over 5 foot bushes.

Good stealth way for newbs to get moving fast without clones. They can let you experience a grow from seed to bong multiple times your first year.

I romance the idea of a super harvest taking up my sideyard everyday though...

I agree. If you are shooting for yield then autos are probably not for you. The best I've got from an auto is 2 1/2 ounces from a northern lights auto. It took 90 days though. What I'm doing now is I have 5 white widow autos (by pyramid seeds) in my veg tent now. I plan to grow trees this grow as well. Maybe 70 day veg. So once the wwa are finish I'll flip the switch on my photos. But if your plant number is limited then autos are no good for you. Check out my current grow "first time for everything". I still consider myself a newbie. Maybe you can give me some pointers.

I'm in Ohio and not allowed any. Lol. So I'll take what I can get.
