Help with autos

I had a few vision northerlight autos that I wanted to run with FFOF and happy frog base soil and supersoil. I was wondering if anyone had success running autos in supersoil. Or is this a bad idea. I plan on running bottom third of bucket with supersoil, the rest I was going to fill with ocean forest and hollow out the center and fill with happy frog to start the germed seedlings and I'll be growing outdoors also. Ive used supersoil before but never grown autos before, any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Sorry i can't answer your question about supersoil, but have you heard of FF light warrior? It's for seedlings and I use it almost exactly as you described here. Could be a bit better for germing and sprouting than happy frog.

Also, starting autos in big pots, I like to "pre-transplant" with peat pots. I poke holes in the peat pots and Place them in the final container with ocean forest. Then fill the peat pot with seed starter.

In thoery, the roots should ball up the first few weeks, then explore outside of the peat pot.

Dunno if it works but it makes me feel better lol

I've heard of light warrior but the only place that sells fox farm around here only carry happy frog and ocean forest or I wouldnof got the light warrior. Other then then the light warrior and the peat pot, do you think I should use fox farm ocean forest soil for the whole auto flower grow and skip the supersoil completely. Also if I go this route what and when should I start feeding them, sorry if these questions are stupid I've only done 4 or 5 outdoor grows but still consider myself a noob, and want to get the best quality possible thank you

Yes, I use Ocean forest. Only bad thing I've heard of it, I'd thier ph buffer (oyster shell) has been known to sputter out in late flower. BUT hopefully growing autos, their harvest will come before that point.

I use the fox farm trio nutes as well. I've read some auto feeding guides with them but haven't stuck to them. I consult the fox farm schedule more often belive it or not. just make sure what you're doing makes sense. just make sure the dosages are correct and it's super easy to use.

Big bloom-bat poop, used the whole grow
grow big-veg
tiger bloom-flower

I dont do it, but you could use big bloom on seedlings. It's gentle. And when your stems start to get little white bumps like a green pretzel rod, she's ready for veg nutes!

I just harvested northern light autos in a mix of FFOF and FFHF, im not sure if it was the soil, nutes, genetics or me (im leaning toward genetics because the other strains in the same soil look fine), but it had a bad calcium or pH lockout problem late in flower. As far as HHOF being to "hot" for seedlings, i never had that problem and personally i think its a fallacy. Also as Swim to the moon pointed out, start your autos in their final container, because of their short lifespan even the stress of transplanting could hurt your plant or yield.

I used fox farms trio of nutes, following their schedule. The only thing i didnt do is start at 1/4 strength. It didnt seem to hurt the plants going full strength until what ever happened late in flowering as i stated.

Thank you Ebcrew, I planned on starting them in their final pots anyway, what did you end up using for nutes with your autos?

Alright yeah I was just looking into that, is that something I add throughout the whole grow or something I'll need for flowering

Im not too sure about that man, like i said i dont know what was wrong with my last grow wether it was the soil, nutes or genetics, or me but there was a calcium deficiency that happened somewhere shortly into flowering. I dont know if it was the FFOF or HF but somewhere there was a need for calcium. Its better to have it on hand when you need it then to not.

I was wondering what size peat pots do you start with?

I run all of my autos in Roots Organic based supersoil. Works flawlessly. And, believe it or not, I buy my pre-mixed ingredients off of eBay.

Sent from my XT1254 using Rollitup mobile app

Yeah that's where I got my mix also this year i went with the one with the extra ingredients. last year I just went with the regular one

I don't like the little cube shaped ones. They aren't useless, but I sow my seeds a little deeper than most.

I get the 4inch tall pots so the taproot doesn't Imediately poke through the bottom Of the peat.

I've done two seeds in straight ocean forest. One is in flower now and is probably my best looking plant. The other had problems while young, but will survive. (Hopefully)

Its not the end of the world if you can't get seed starter, but it's a bad time to cut corners...so is flower..and veg lol.

Alright, yeah I bought some seed starter today and for the 4 inch peat pots. I'm ordering the fox farm trio and the cal mag tomorrow. Thanks again for the advice
