Not to seem like a total dumbass but can you elaborate a little on "topped twice"?
Your plants have a very nice shape and structure to them.
What I have been doing is topping early (2nd or 3rd node) as I had read many doing that and getting several tops.
After more reading and checking out some of subcools vids, it seems that a lot of people are letting the plant get 10" or so high and topping it at that point. Then lollipopping everything off the bottom making more like a tree canopy?

i top it short. about 5th or 6th node. (I wait til a good root ball has been established) Then after all the tops / branches grow a little bit. I top each one. I shim of lower growth just before going into flower.

What is your personal opinion on mainlineing vz just multiple topping?
I have been working with a set of clones trying to mainline them and it is very difficult/time and labor consuming to try to build things even. I can totally see where a seed start would be best but obviously we don't all grow from seed all the time.

Main lining is a strain dependent method.

you get more larger buds. It doesn't really improve yield . Veg time takes much longer.

I prefer to top some what early or lst. Some strains do better letting them do their own thing. Imo lst or multiple toppings and long veg is the best way to go. Some strains take better to one method over others.

you just gotta do trial and error. See what your plants respond to best.

Only disadvantage would be you couldn't rotate individual plants but it looks like you have a handle on your lighting arrangement.

On a different topic, I know your doing organic but what are your thoughts on so called "finishers" weather it be soil or hydro?

I have been thinking about beds. Lots of medium in a bed. It would be interesting to see 4 in one 30gal. I ran 30's outdoors a few times, they weren't big enough. That would give each plants ~7gals for you though. I have liked 7gals for soil the best so far.

I like the bed idea too. They make square/rectangle fabric beds that would be awesome. I was thinking if I added some coco to the medium mix I use already It would probably hold water well enough...

I prefer 10 gallon smart pots over plastic. It seemed to me that the roots would always get bound up in 5 gallon so I eventually went to 10 gallon. It takes up a bunch of dirt but the plants always turn out bushy.

I suppose making an indoor, rectangular/square wooden bed wouldn't be all that difficult to craft but you guys are talking about fabric? Would that be fabric laid over the wood to withhold moisture/liquid or?

if I were to build a soil bed I'd do soma style beds. I ran them back in the day. It was my first indoor soil venture. I stopped due to clean up after the grow being a bitch. I didn't do rols then. With rols. It would be great.

no draining. I could use large rubbermaids too. But 30 gals on dollies would be easier. Especially moving from one room to the other.

No drainage? interesting
I have been kicking this thought around for a bit - growing organic in the ground is basically what I see a lot of growers doing now in pots.
How does that mix with the concept of "flushing" before harvest? There is no way that the soil is at an inert state at harvest so what does that do to flower taste?

flushing only rids of the plants of salts. True organics doesn't have salts. So flushing doesn't apply. Especially with a well built soil. The buds taste great

soma style beds have a bed of air beneath the soil. The PVC in the corners bring air to that lower region. That bed of air makes it nearly impossible to over water. So no drainage necessary.

I did not drain in the octagon. I had them stacked in there 2 gallon grow bags if you remember and never had a problem one.

the homies at norstar genetics hooked me up with some kona sunset beans. They came today. Now I can trash that beach bum male. I only kept it for the kona traits.

this is a strain they breed with and keep for them selves. I'm very lucky to get this old school strain.
