Hydro system help

Hey Guys

I am going to be switching over to hydro. I have done my fare share of grows so im not a newbee but I am to hydro. I am hoping to get some advice on purchasing a new system.

Which one do you recommend for the most yields? I am a medical marijuana caregiver and have 3 patients that I have to watch for but the problem is with soil I am always running out because I am limited to 18 plants total. I am hoping this will help out. Let me know if I am wrong in my thinking.

After reading and watching some videos, it seems that advance nutrients (micro grow bloom) seem to be the best or one of the best. Is this correct or am I just watching a bunch of advertisements from AN?

Thanks for any info you can provide

Even with the best nutrients...If applied incorrectly.....wont get you the results you're looking for.

Almost all hydro nutrients will get the job done. Its more up to you and your understanding of how to apply them. So dont get hung up on any brand's advertising. Yes, AN are great nutes. But so is GH, Canna and FoxFarm among others.

just a diff ratio to gh grow micro bloom and a lil mo expensive. I have dem both and both work good but i switched to avd for good. You should try GH it's real cheap and works well. like bra said you can spend 200 on nutes n mess it up. Ya first system has nutes included just use those bra n save money.

If you want a complete ( But expensive) system that has everything you need except the water then try these guys. BC Northern Lights The bloombox is a decent box from what I hear, but the producer grows 18 plants at a time and has great reviews, I also use a producer and get 1-2 lbs every 9 weeks.

Sounds like you need to stagger your grow so you get constant yield. the 18 plant thing is really restrictive for 3 people. I would use a flood table set up and stagger your grow. One big mother, take four clones every 2 weeks and veg them another 2 weeks then put them into the flower room. This way you can get a small harvest every 3-4 weeks. This way your guys have a constant supply, harvesting 4 plants at a time. It would be pretty cheap to build four small flood tables with four plants each.

I use the Waterfarm 8, works good for me with a few modifications. I think every hydro sytem has complications.
The 12 pot thing looks good also but I don't know much about ebb and flow.
The third system is tiny, did you read the dimensions? That explains the price. You would need five sytems for your needs and five systems means five times the complications and work.
Regardless of what you get, shop around. I paid $250 for mine new, at a hydro store.
Feel free to ask me questions.
Good luck.

With the 4 flood trays, you'll need 4 res., 4 nute pumps, 4 timers, 4 air stones + pump
One timer would work fine. A single quad output air pump. 4 small pumps and some rubber-maid res. The cost of these components is pretty cheap. Amazon.com: Sunterra 109006 Small Fountain Pump, 75 GPH, Black: Patio, Lawn & Garden (pump) Hydroponic Air Pumps, Airstones & Air Diffusers for Reservoir Aeration at Home Harvest Garden Supply (air pump)
Grow Light Timer (timer)
Grow Light Timer (table)

Ok so for the major components we are at $155. Thats a lot cheaper than a pre mad GH set up. Add in air stones, tubes, overflow, some epoxy, rubber maids and you are looking at maybe $250. Still cheaper than that crappy overpriced GH unit and you have the added benefit of a patients not running out of medicine.

can a res be shared between multiple trays? like, fill one then drain, then fill the next and drain... if the res has 2 or 3 times the amount of water as needed for one tray, I would think it should stay stable with the extra plants, but it would make it much easier to deal with only one res instead of maintaining 4.

I think you should think about going with recirculating deep water culture system.you can grow big plants, fast.i grow for two sick people.
12 plants,3-4site systems,i harvest 4 plants every 30 days 1.5lbs or so
every 30 days.you can't do that with ebb-n-flo or tables.as for nutrients you need a good a/b base.then additves b1 trive, humic extract, big bud and more.the rdwc system works the best.

now that's a silly thing to say....of course you can do that on tables..i get at the very least a pound every 2 weeks.and my roots dont knit. dwc is great but dont knock the tables cause you dont use em'

how many tables do you have, how big are they? I was thinking of either doing full ebb and flow tables, or use 1 gallon pots.

check out the link in my signature...i run 2x2's and 2x4's you can do it on 2 2x4's and have 2 tubs instead of 4 look on my thread you'll see

bugs, I WAS stalking you... but then I got high... and was waylaid by a bowl of corn chips and salsa that was stalking ME.

I'm really glad that you got the aerocloner to pump out clonage reliably. Since you're growing in pellets, going medialess in the cloning stage is better for your op than cubes, anyway. A RW cube can be a problem when growing in pellets unless it is above the flood level.

I bang on all the time about using known reliable methods in the op and aerocloners are certainly one of them. So it happens, this method suits your pellet media better.

Heh, sorry about that. :D You can presume that many other people on here, I might have had a cone or two while writing. ;)

Perlite, being puffed glass, acts a lot like pellets anyway in that there's a lot of air content and airspaces, but it does hold more water than pellets. The floc in the pot bottoms in your case does the same as it does for me with Fytocell, mainly keeping it in the pots, but it also gives you a bit more reserve water in case of a failure in the watering system.
