I don't really like the look of that. Couldn't you cut the wires back and get rid of all that tape etc and then reattach to the light fitting? Do you know a spark who could advise you? please don't take any chances ;)
Agrees ... that looked like a fire waiting to start dude
having the correct gauge wire etc is important in electrical fixtures
otherwise they could heat up and cause a fire
Please be careful with bare wires and electricity

Excellent, if it moves you can connect it to a motor to move it throughout the day so it simulates the movement of the sun. You seem to "move" in the right circles UK - LOL - I hardly know anyone else who smokes these days (apart from my friends' kids) and don't know anyone else who grows at all. Must be my age :o

Heh same here (the age part)
a light rail (light mover) will move the light back and forth slowly along the track allowing you to double the usable growing area.
you can take the square of usable light from your fixture and stretch it along the track so instead of say 3'x3' grow area you will now have a 3'x7' growing area.
nice if you have the room

Hi UK - yeah I'll try to get some for you. They're not much to look at thanks to the weather, but I've been remiss in not keeping up to date regardless. Check back later man ;)

Hi all, at last I'm doing an update. This thread sort of died a death as I got way too lazy and concentrated too much on my Cinammons, and then I disappeared for like a month, so sorry about that. I don't have a lot of pics of these Purple Power plants, so I'm afraid you will just get a very brief flavour of what they've been doing over the last five or six weeks or so.

First a bit about the plants. These are weird LOL. They didn't get a lot of sun for about three or four weeks, just LOTS of rain. This really stunted them. All the leaves were at the top four inches of the plants, and although the top fan leaves spread their wings pretty well, that was about it as regards foliage. That was until a few weeks ago when the weather started to improve and they started getting about four to six hours of sunshine per day. Suddenly, like in the space of a week and a half, they virtually tripled in height and the side branches started to appear.

As a result they look very odd LOL - really stretched out with not a lot of foliage under their hats. Having said that the stems are really thick and they're healthy looking, so I'm now reasonably hopeful of getting at least something to smoke from these girls. At least I think they're all girls. Pretty sure about three of them, the next couple of days should confirm the fourth - I think I can see white pistils starting to emerge from the little sacs so fingers crossed.

OK, now for the pics. Sorry the quality isn't great on most of these. The first one shows them beside the Cinammons at about five weeks. You can just about see how barren they are on the foliage front. They looked pretty dire to be honest. The second pic shows them at about seven weeks and you can see that they have started to grow upwards and the foliage is starting to fill in. The third pic, one of my night specials, was about one week ago, age eight weeks. And the last pic was taken today, age about nine weeks. The three tall ones are about 57 inches, the fouth a few inches less. At last they are starting to look like something, just not sure what yet.

Hope this hasn't been too disappointing. If nothing else at least it proves I haven't thrown the towel in and smoked them LOL. Thanks for looking ;)

LOL - thanks UK. They're out of control right enough. If they get any bigger I don't know what the hell I'm gonna do with them. Hope I get big buds as you suggest. Anyway I'm off to bed now so catch you later mate ...

wont let me post the pics for some reason will try again tomara
Thanks UK, I'd like to see those pics. The forum is acting up on me all the time as well. Don't know what's going on. By the way I am abandoning this journal. I will update both Cinammons and Purple Powers on my other journal from now on, I think it will work better for everyone (especially me LOL).

Hi all. Just to let you know that I am abandoning this journal as I'm finding it too much to keep two journals going. All future updates on my Purple Power plants will be included in my other grow journal here: https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/75638-first-grow-outdoor-uk.html.

Thanks to everyone who posted their comments and suggestions here, it was very much appreciated. I'm only sorry I didn't do a very good job of keeping this journal up to date. Hope to see you all on the other journal soon ;)
