Water question.

Can someone please tell me (from experience) how many gallons of water I'm going to need per 300 gal smart pot grown outdoors. I know there are many variables that determine watering schedules, but I'm just looking for an average amount from someone who has done it before. What I'm trying to figure out is if my well can pump enough water to satisfy the gals thirst.
Thanks

My plants were in 100 and 150 gallon smart pots last year and I was using 12-15 gallons a day. I THINK THE BOSS IS RIGHT ON THE MONEY, opps I hit the "cap loc" button.

If you know your soil, what is the perlite ratio, big chunk? Self built or bagged or empire?, does it have rocks or husks to allow drainage? Are the pots on pallets raised or in hard clay or dirt or a hill?

25 gallons, this is not correct, you can go 10 gallons every day and you can also go 25 gallons twice a week.
25 gallons a day is totally not correct. not trying to be an ass just thinking that you will get root rot 25 gallons a day?

It hits 110+ where I am and never used that much even only half that.

I do want to try the 20 gallons flooding and no water the next day until it drys out.

I my self have a very advanced watering system so I can go 8 gallons with 300 gallon pot.

Timer puts in 2 gallons at 5am, 2 gallons at 7am, 2 gallons at 8am, 2 gallons at 7pm, = 8 gallons.
There methods if you want to save water like packing the sized an d tops with heat barrier (Straw or compost)

Something to keep the sun from leaching the moisture.

25 gallons you need to find a way to get that standing water off draining from the "Soggy feet"

For your well just get a large tank and have it pump there

This is my experience with 300 gallons that the dirt will shield the plant from leaching plus big plant will cover dirt.

sorry no drama intended just my results.

Im really just more talking about where the water is going to go, you can put in 40 gallons a day if it drains out and you have big chunk drainage soil.

Some plants iv actually killed with 10 gallons. They liked a more arid soil. When I cut off the water that same streign finished out fine,

"Was not a heavy drinker" some plants are not heavy feeders also.

What kind of weight do you pull out of those 300 gallon pots watering with that schedule? I like the "soak in water every 2 hours" method that you use, but I worry about final weight using that little water.
Thanks for the help,

10 gallons per day max at the height of the heat in July. 25 is a huge waste and will likely cause root rot and fungus gnats. If your soil was super "fast" maybe 12 gallons but I would never go above that. And that is for 10lb trees. treemansbuds has a great method, I do the same 20 gallons per every other day at the height of the season. 8-10 # each

Thanks, I'm no expert but 7 pounds average the green crack and 5 to 7 others and yet lots of 3 ponders.
I am also actively trying to learn a bit more, local soil expert thought flood the tree 2 or 3 times a week and allow time to dry. But iv never done that. the way I do it I do get dry spots so thought to go the 25 gallon per plant and allow to dry out and do it again.

I am not in the 10 pound 3 meter club.

I will water until it drains and they thought drain 20% before you stop.
Wow so many ideas yet they all work if you dont get soggy feet.
I used to have pallets for bottom draining but they rotted away a few years ago and I see no difference.

But water less more often is the way to go so thats why I dose them at 2 gallons so the water goes in the plant and they get hit a gain and again.

All good to get this figured out ...before you part with the cash on seeds and gear...just like you have?
