6 hours on 18 hours off flower cycle

so about a month ago I ran across an article in Skunk Mag talking about the plants not needing the full twelve hours of light during flower, and that they actually do better with only 6 hours of light. naturally this peaked my interest so on may 1. I started my experiment using a strain that I cloned (I have Pictures and video) the stain is a 75% Sativa and takes 80days to flower....has anyone heard or tried this? thoughts?

Imo 6 hours of light is not enough for the plant to grow nice big dense buds. I have had plants outdoors that are at the end of a row and are shaded by trees so that they only get 4-5hrs of direst sunlight during flower. Those plants had a significantly lower yield and bud density compared to plants of the same strain that were treated the exact same but got full direct sunlight all day. All plants were in 4'x4'x18" beds, the shaded ones finished slightly smaller but yielded 1/3 of what the ones in direct sunlight did and the bud quality was not as good. Also I noticed that they seemed to take longer to finish. Needless to say we don't even bother putting plants in those spots that don't get direct sun all day because its not worth the cost and effort to grow them.

Just my opinion from personal experience.

The plants will definately flower. Preflowers show in 7 days or less and use more water than i was expecting.
Cant say the yield isnt effected however in my opinion the use of only 50% of the energy is worth it.
