Marshydro2 ...

Has anyone had any experience with the marshydro2 400w led's? Compared with the reflector series led's. 3x3 grow tent maybe two plants. Not sure if 3w or 5w led's would be better. Heat shouldn't be a problem. Looking at either the marshydro2 400w or the 450w in the reflector series. I'm new to led's so have no idea. Thanks for any help

The 400w draws 185 w and gets just as hot as a hps of equivalent. If you want to buy cheap leds you might as well roll with a hps bro. Not trying to be an ass here either. I own two of the 400s and are left on my shelf while I roll with hps until I can afford the massive cost of a diy. Instead of the mars 400 I would buy a rw-150 from area 51 led. Their only 400 right now and will smash that Mars. I have that one too. Don't use it right now because I don't trust my partner around expensive things lol. Good luck

Mars "5w" units will be a paperweight within a year of use , we like to call them FIY (fix it yourself) panels..............if that's what your into , go for it.

bout to do a side by side. hps vs marsII. same cuts fed the same mix. lets go!
Based on all the hate here, I assume you are joking... but I hope you're not and I hope you actually post the results. I don't think there is a doubt which would produce more, but personally I'm curious how much more.

Outstanding, I look forward to hearing about the results. Are you going to start a journal or a grow thread? Rate of growth, plant density, nutrient needs, and then finally quantity and quality of flowers are all important. I hope you'll share the details.

reason im doing this is cause i feel like the led altered the flav or my last 2 plants. ill start a thread when i do. only difference in the grows i can think of at this time will be the led will get a lil more cal mg.

Can't wait to see the results this will be my first experimenting with LCD. From what I've seen they work quite well but will see what happens ....

Chinese lights like this usually fail in one way or another. You're gonna love it, you're going to think it's doing a great job, and then half of it will go out. The next option would be to spend a bunch of money to ship it back for repair (even if under warranty) or buy new. You could just skip all that and spend a little more on a quality light. But don't listen to me, or countless other people in this forum who've had this exact same experience. I mean, what is a forum for?

edit: Maybe you already have the light... if it's not to late, I'd try to return it. If you gotta keep it, hang it like 12 inchest over the plant and keep that temp low/airflow. Increase calmag a little, they seems to use more when under LEDs for some reason.

I did a decent amount of research, but maybe I didn't go back far enough time-wise. One problem I found was that people seemed to be burned out on explaining calmly and rationally why the cheap Chinese lights are a bad idea (as you have), most were reduced to "they suck", or something similar. I will use anything that works -- I've had plants veg incredibly well under an LED shop light I got at Home Depot -- so I'm open to trying anything. Having decided to roll the dice and try a pair of them, I've found: totally deceptive marketing, incompetent customer service, and over all low quality. I am interested in this thread because I got their cheapest bottom of the line "old model", and I'm curious if they put more effort into their Mars II lights. But its kind of moot, because having been burned once, they've lost me forever.

I will finish out one grow cycle with mine (assuming they make it through), and then I'll put them on the shelf as back-up emergency lights, in case some other light fails for some reason (as any light will fail eventually). For a relatively minimal investment, if they save a crop somewhere down the road while I'm fixing or replacing some other piece of equipment, then it wasn't a total waste.

I use to defend Mars until I made my own light with Cree CXA 3590's and fell in love lol. Just look at this one diy panel to 2 mars II 1600 and 1200 panel and my panel is 413 watts true power draw and I can dim them to 186 watts

SAM_0221.JPG

I also did this to my Mars II 900

I had multiple diodes burn out and others on the way after 15 months of use. First they sent me diodes. I was cool with it at first until I had to pay for a better soldering gun so they did say you can send it to the repair center and I was like cool but then it hit me. I had a thought too check the other panels that I bought and found a burnt out diode on my 1200 which I only had 9 months so I fixed the one diodes and smashed the 900 and before the diodes were sent I was offered $30 back.
