Why Do Call Centers 'Get It'?

SNAP is $193/month = $6.35/day for food unless the right comes along and wants to reduce it again to pay for another billionaire tax incentive.
I see more merit in letting people keep their own money than throwing it away to feed parasites

so a full-time college student who borrows the federal 'max' $10k (somehow finds this unsustainable) is a parasite?

yes the billionaire class is certainly merited in wanting to keep that $193, to themselves.
SNAP doesn't provide student loans. If they don't pay it back with interest, yes, they are parasites. Let's not pretend only billionaires pay taxes.

I don't work at job sites. But yes, we would have gotten along fine. I'm a nice guy. You just see me through Bucky-colored glasses.
Nope, from your posts, you crow about how hard you worked in school, what, about 35 years ago? Then you crab about unions and how they made trouble for your co-worker after one of you tripped and then re-set a circuit breaker without telling anybody while fooling around in the lab after hours. Then you talk about how much you would have slacked if you had the chance to do it all over again. What professional does that? A dick sucker.

And you go on and on about being a professional engineer. Oh please. BFD ... as if it makes you special somehow. People who are excellent at their profession don't need to announce how great they are.

And then, you demean somebody who is glad for getting a good job that they really need. It's all about you isn't it?

and wal-mart doesn't?

so, everyone knows i've been looking for actively since april 1..if this is news..i have. for your consideration, i cannot find what i want..i'm a 6-figure+++..i heard about all these jobs out there..well let me tell you..if you're 21, maybe..absolutely no sense of urgency..i don't want to work for a company that doesn't have this..diversity?..same thing.

so after conversation with my mentor @UncleBuck..i decided to give it a whirl and here's my experience:

i made an appointment directly since i knew one of the centers is located 5 minutes away rather than submit resume or application.

i was able to contact an hr person direct who when i told her about my skills, was genuinely warm and indicated 'trainings' begin again shortly..gave me an appointment with clear instructions followed by an email.

this was actually the very first place i encountered a streamlined, clear process..fortune 500's, hiring managers are a waste of fucking space:

The Peter Principle is a concept in management theory formulated by Laurence J. Peter in which the selection of a candidate for a position is based on the candidate's performance in their current role, rather than on abilities relevant to the intended role. Thus, employees only stop being promoted once they can no longer perform effectively, and "managers rise to the level of their incompetence."

i've had phone interviews where these managers stood me up, late to the call..never followed through as indicated..and they would want me to consider working for them? again, these are fortune 500's.

i go to the hr where there are people that both walk-in or have appointment..everyone there was nice enough.

i was the only white person in the room..they had a infomercial of their company..how most vp's and ceo started off at this company as an agent, along with statistical information..nice to know.

i was there for a total of 5 hours (2 interviews, typing test 44/0 wpm and hr processing) and walked out as hired..pending successful drug and background.

i found this to be interesting (and impressive) because they have perfected mass hiring in the following ways:

  1. those who didn't make it past the typing test (for interview) were encouraged to go home and practice then reapply after 48 hours (i think)..there was a brother behind me who didn't make the cut (25/0 wpm) that they had advised and were very nice about it..they didn't make him feel bad about himself at all. nice touch:clap:he is a person and has feelings.
  2. a direction..no waiting; wondering..the company saved money by streamlining the processes into one.
  3. i was given folder with clear bullet pointed information highlighting each step of drug, background and schedule paid training and direct deposit info with the dates of my checks.
  4. my training will start 2 days before the eom and will give me 2 days of pay the following week (they are creating identity for me) validating me as a person right from the beginning, this is not by chance. for many who have not one single cent in their pocket, this is huge..something to hold on to.
  5. benefits after 60 days for full-time..and it's a full suite of benefits not just health..401k, fsa, hsa etc. part-time has the option of joining the group, but of course no ER contributions. vacation after one year.
  6. you may post for a new position after 90 days..and they have plenty..but since i never had call center, i had to start at the bottom $10.50/hour so that's $3.25 more than minimum..was told by one of the floor supervisors, OT there is where to make the cash and they always have plenty..
  7. drug test email.. again clear timely information..i was able to have them scan right from my cell at a location 5 minutes down the road. very convenient.

as very different tale; of two very different companies; both employing from the same pool.

it seems as if one of the above companies knows what their most prized resource is: its employees.
Hey, @schuylaar, congratulations on the new job.

thank you:hug: it's better than nothing..5 minutes away and i'll have health in 60 days..best of all..no fucking quota!..i get to unplug and leave..i don't have to give it another thought. this is very appealing and i like the fact that they are a PTC who 'gets it'.

everything else around here in that category..publix, home depot, fast food, wal-mart is all part-time and their vp's want it that way..no benefits to have to pay out.

i found out about this place from that girl who i helped give a ride to at the gas station..things happen for a reason..i helped someone and in return learned of this opportunity.

Publix is the highest paying grocery chain there is, and they provide benefits, too.

yes, they do, if they offer full-time..which they don't.

citation: my daughter..could never get full time..same with tarjay..same with WFM..they know to keep you under 30 hours..and certainly no overtime. ever.

My neighbor is full time at Publix. So.....no. Your daughter was deemed unworthy of promotion to full-time by two different businesses. Did you come to her workplace and show your ass or did she fail on her own?

don't talk about my daughter..i'm gonna tell you something..that girl busted her ass at all these places and was a 'team player'..the last time she came home white as a ghost from standing on her feet non-stop on express at publix by the front door and not even allowed to get a fucking drink? or how about a 'new site' target where they gave her a black belt that you wrap around your lower back and had her unloading trucks 50-100 lb boxes..she weight 100lbs and is 5'4"..or the time when she worked at WFM always came in when they needed her and begged for a position in whole body..then produce..it was always the person who was fucking the manager..

don't you dare talk about my daughter to me.
