using a bunch of ph down when using tap water?

I have no experience with using either of those. I picked up a bottle of advanced nutrients ph down on a hydro store recommendation 30$ and should last at least a year if i dont add on

I use formic acid, 90% with tap water, it holds pH level great, same thing fire aunts produce..I have also used citric acid from the canning section in any supermarket with good results,but only with RO water

Starting to have problems. Went out and got an ro system to see if i can save them. My tap ppm was like 450 and must be causing some lockout. Getting yellow spots between the veins on lower growth. Just tested some of the filtered water while the system is purging and its down to 80ppm and lowered the ph half a point. I guess my tap waters no good for hydro

Shoulda just went with the ro system in the first place. Was only 150$ for 35gal a day flow ro system. Hopefully these plants hang in there...they are autos and this was more or less as experiment to see if my tap water would work. Otherwise i got some new gear on the way and i really want to run it in dwc vertical trees this winter. My last blueberry strain i was getting 2-5zips per plant depending on pot size and veg in organoc mix soil. I ran one clone in 5 gal dwc and got 9 zips and the nugs were nuggyier.

I tried to use PH down with my tap water and it would go back up by the next day. A RIU member told me that tap water cannot have the ph level lowered. I decided to get a 5 stage reverse osmosis system. Quite a few parts and setup but hopefully this will fix my ph problem.

Depends in the water and buffers it has. My water needs more than most and has been my biggest hurdle. I now use 35% sulphuric I buy at the battery store. I tell them its for my aquarium lol.

My PH down just came in the mail...Holy Fuck...1-3ml per 10 gallons of nutrient water to PH down. I now have 11 years worth of ph down haha. But check this out...This ebay company always throws in a freebie. Got 250ml of overdrive which you use the last 2 weeks of bloom. 2 ml per gallon means this is like 4 rounds alone worth of nutes. Between the 3 gallons of Humboldt nutes, 1 gallon ph down, overdrive, big bud...I am beyond set with nutrients. I did read that the shelf life of nutes is 2 years if kept in a cool spot.

Well i decided to shutdown my first attempt at rdwc since one of that plants had rootrot so bad it was effecting the whole system. I saved the healthier one and put it into a single dwc bucket but i have no way of rigging up my cooler the cool a single 5 gal dwc bucket, it would suck up the roots. If these were not autos i dont think it would be a problem but now that i am 3-4weeks in they are already starting to flower and wouldnt even be worth the pathetic yield i am going to get out of them. I will be waiting until i get my latest seed sprouting vegged and sexed before i will likely go back to rdwc. Well at least i have all my enviroment controls for hydro now and good water.

Don't the nutes lower the ph? If you have root rot then your rez is still too warm.

I had high res temps like 75 76f for a couple days and had to change the res and i went and picked up a 1/4hp. One of the plants was much smaller than the other and roots got brown even with lowe res temps 66 67 over the last week. The other one is doing great niw that it is seperate and in its own bucket. Also im not sure i had enough bubbles, probably needed another air pump. Ill post my setup later today and see if you guys can help maybe i had a design flaw like to small of an inline mag pump.

Its going really well so far. My tap water is 390ppm. 1/4strenght nutes right now in dwc and picked up a chiller last week. Ph has been perfectly stable so far going on 3 days and hasnt changed after res change and adjustments. Good to see your still around @jijiandfarmgang , you are always providing good info. I might pick up an ro system later this year but i keep asking myself why should i if tap water works just as well. I used ro on my first dwc and ph was always drifting up, but i was using gh ph down the whole time.

390ppm's is to high imo. RO with a tad bit of bleach would be better. At least that's my 2 cents

Yea i had problems with it, and got an ro system. Ph has been more stable with the concentrated ph down. Here is the one that made it, got new roots bursting everywhere.

I use tap water and gh ph down. Never had an issue. The pm may jump a tenth of a point or two but thats from using available nutrients.

I just ran out of PH Down and ended up getting GH down. Ironically I get .07 shift per drop per gallon( 14 drops a point PG).
My ph has been very stable since I've been using it.
Just curious hydroton or rock wool?

Seed started in rockwool, 6" net pot of hydroton.
