Thinking about a mini split

I want to put a mini split in my room, but have a few questions.

1) will these heat during the winter?
2) how far away from my room can i put the outside unit? I would like to put it around my house since i dont live in the best neighborhood, could the hvac installer do this?
3) i am renting, so could i easily take the mini split with me when i leave? Would i be able to put it in storage if i cant grow at my next house?

Any help is greatly appreciated

1) yes, if you buy the right one. do not skimp.
2) less than 25 feet is best, but 75 is a good upper estimate. you will lose efficiency after 25 feet.
3) you can take it with you but you would need to have it reinstalled at the next place, which is costly. not many people have the tools, skills, and know how required to do that type of work. not sure about storage.

Thanks guys, answered everything I need to know. I could probably get it to the side of my house on 25 feet, and i dont mind paying a few hundred to get it reinstalled and set up correctly, its worth it if i can get away from the window shakers. My next house will likely be permanent anyways.

Could anyone recommend a size of mini split?

For a 12000 btu ideal air 13 seer at my local hydro store it is $1300, but at home depot I can get an 18000 btu for the same price.

Im just not sure on what size I need. Im running a 2k room, and I would like it to be able to combat a co2 generator as well.

Are you SURE your only going to do 2 lights? Don't buy the ideal air IMO. 13 seer is low and ideal air is overpriced . The hydro store over charges for those but if you ever have an issue you can bring it there and complain and will normally get your way. I would go at least 18kbtu. Gives you extra room to play with. Anything over a grand is too much IMO

I think it's best to cAlculate 5k btu per non aircooled. 24kbtu isn't doing 6 lights unless you aircool . Also dehumidifier and burners must be calculated for. Not saying your wrong just saying not best to advise someone new to calculate 4k per non aircooled, they might not understand the variables

You should get a 2 ton 24kbtu ... So you have enough AC when in a couple runs you realize that your space would Be most efficient with 4k watts .

How much would one of those be? Also what is a good brand? 24k would be good since eventually I will be moving and upgrading to a bigger space. I just dont want to overpay for them, im not sure of a good place to get one.

Where are you located ? I just got a 15 seer cool mart for 1000 bucks. 24kbtu
