So you are going to vote for a candidate entirely on his/her stand on legalizing marijuana? If so, you deserve the slavery you are buying into,

Vi

lol no... im just saying that he said that obama is against weed and hes not... and that also implies that mccain is for it... and hes not

im not basing who i vote for solely on the fact that hes for weed, SPECIFICLY because i live in PA and its a none medical mary state anyways... so him being president does nothing for me and weed.... im voting for him because our country has not improved over the last 8 years that bush has been in power and im willing to give another guy a chance than just let another white haired old fart that will die in 20 years in presidency, especially this old white haired fart.

... you dont know what your talking about... oboma used to smoke weed and is for making medical marijuana legal on a federal level..

mccain is the one thats against weed and completly ignorant about it

do some research before you post
I suggest everyone take that advice, including s/he who offers it.

Now, I've done quite a bit of research, and Obama has flipped (or would that be flopped?) on his stance regarding medical mj. I've read his "blueprint", and have YET to find him declaratively stating that he's "for medical mj". As a matter of fact, if you go to his website and look up his stance on drugs and drug use, he states, declaratively, that drug use is immoral.

He is for sale. He will go to the highest bidder. He will be no different than anyone else except that he is painted a different color.
o yea im sure mccane is all about the weed?
No. The point is that NEITHER of them are, and anyone who really thinks that Obama is "for weed" is a fool and hasn't bothered to research their own candidate.

Here, I'll spoonfeed all of you.
Report Sees Shift in Obama Stance on Marijuana Policy
Report Sees Shift in Obama Stance on Marijuana Policy
February 4, 2008
Barack Obama stated support for marijuana decriminalization in 2004 but has backed off that position during the 2008 presidential campaign, the Washington Times reported Feb. 1.

While running for Senate in 2004, Obama told a group of Northwestern University students, "I think we need to rethink and decriminalize our marijuana laws. But I'm not somebody who believes in legalization of marijuana."

However, Obama joined other Democratic candidates during an Oct. 30 debate is indicating that he opposed marijuana decriminalization.

An Obama spokesperson, Tommy Vietor, first told the newspaper that the candidate had "always" supported decriminalization, but later said campaign officials later said that Obama does not support eliminating criminal penalties for marijuana possession and use.

"If you're convicted of a crime, you should be punished, but that we are sending far too many first-time, nonviolent drug users to prison for very long periods of time, and that we should rethink those laws," Vietor said, blaming the confusion in defining Obama's position on an unclear definition of decriminalization.

Obama's political rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, does not support marijuana decriminalization, and among the Republicans only Rep. Ron Paul wants to ease the nation's drug laws.

"This is mostly evolutionary thinking," said John Jackson of the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute at Southern Illinois University. "It's not a clear 'flip-flop' kind of change, but inevitably, when someone is running for a different position, four years later, there is likely to be some change or some emphasis that gets placed differently."
Seriously, you people who want to come to the table and discuss politics, PLEASE, for fuck's sake, would you at least bring some actual FACTUAL knowledge to the table???

More important..? Collectively, I suppose so. But I will not dismiss it, as this War on Drugs is CRIPPLING our nation. Added to it is the War on Terror (which Obama furthers by voting for legislation such as FISA) and we have the Average American Citizen under attack from his/her own fucking government.

And, of course, as ever, there's MORE. ;)

Vi he is wrong about Obama's position of Marijuana.
So what you are saying is if a person is erroneous in their post, it makes a person a voice of reason?

Please clearify this.
Read his post, Dank ... then read my response.

Here's his post ... the part I commented on:

McCain ---> Equality of Opportunity ---> Freedom & Prosperity

Obama --> Equality of Results ---> Loss of Freedom & Prosperity

In my opinion, he deserves kudos for knowing the difference between the two. That's a lot more than many who post in this forum know. Now then, I don't necessarily agree with him on McCain, but I do agree that that's the difference between true conservatism and neo-liberalism.

Got it now?

So that we can more accurately assess your political philosophy, please define what you mean by "improved" or lack of "improvement." Where would Bush have had to "improve" the country in order for you to be happy? Thanks ...

Obama Withdraws Support for Marijuana Decriminalization - TalkLeft: The Politics Of Crime

First Barack Obama was for decriminalization of marijuana. Then he was against it. Then he said he was for it, explaining he raised his hand by mistake at a debate.
Now he's clear: he opposes decriminalization of marijuana.

What accounts for this latest switch? His campaign says he didn't understand what decriminalization meant.
A spokesman for Obama’s campaign blamed confusion over the meaning of decriminalization for the inconsistencies, and said that while Obama does not support decriminalization, "we are sending far too many first-time, nonviolent drug users to prison for very long periods of time, and that we should rethink those laws."
More on Obama and his limited progressive crime positions here.

Update: To be clearer, for people that are new to a discussion of this, in a 2004 video,
As a candidate for the U.S. Senate four years ago, Mr. Obama told Illinois college students that he supported eliminating criminal penalties for marijuana use or possession, according to a videotape of a little noticed debate that was obtained by The Washington Times. "I think we need to rethink and decriminalize our marijuana laws," Mr. Obama told an audience during a debate at Northwestern University in 2004. "But I'm not somebody who believes in legalization of marijuana."
I think it's a fair question to ask if he's being disingenous now, first about raising his hand by mistake and now saying he was confused about what decriminalization means, or whether in 2004 he was engaging in a campaign ploy to attract the youth vote.

I won't argue that point. Same as the others who are entranced by the man and who allow themselves to be led around by the nose. Don't just leave it to me or others to spoonfeed you, find a way to feed yourself. Don't just leave it to the media to make him look one way or the other, find out the FACTS yourself. Just look at his voting record, that's where the rubber meets the road. ;) I will argue against the idea that I know "everything". I know what I know, the rest? I don't.
AND HIS STANCE ON WEED MEANS NOTHING TO ME!!!!!!!!
That's too bad. It means something to me, seeing as how I have a rather vested interest in that stance.
i was just informing the person that obama isnt against weed... based on what ive read and seen, and whether he is or isnt ONCE AGAIN IT DOSNT MATTER TO ME for who i choose to vote
You call it informing, I call it misleading. :D
i told you why im voting for obama please dont think lesser of me because i have a differnet vote than you do
I don't think lesser of people for having a different vote (though at times that's difficult). I think lesser of you for trying to state your opinions as fact when, in fact, they are not. Stop trying to push this shit as fact, because it is not.
remember this guy colled voltair? "i do not agree with what you have to say but ill defend to the death your right to say it"
I not only remember him, but I remember how to spell his name. :blsmoke:
if you say that either canidates gonna be the same thing then why even vote...
Because, along with the other facts I know, I know that I am not roped into voting for only one or the other. I also know how to write and where to put the name on the ballot that I happen to know how to read. :D
get off your highhorse buddy it all dosnt matter anyways
"He" is a "she", thusly the name SeaMAIDEN. And why should I get off my high horse? The view is wonderful from up here. :D Please show me where I said you can't have a say. What I'm saying, and I will stick to this til the end, is if you're gonna come and say it, state facts and back 'em up. Big difference between that and a "shut up".

Now, I know that reading and comprehension aren't two words that necessarily thought of together by some, but neither are they mutually exclusive. So, I'm gonna throw this out there for you to chew on--why would you presume that I'm pushing for McCain when I go on a rail against Obama? Do you not read, not comprehend what you read, or what?

where did i try to push anything as fact? where did i say ITS A FACT

AND i just figured that you being so against oboma meant that you were for mccain you got me there... but id rather vote for one or the other instead of just wasting a vote... thats MY OPINON... please vote for whoever you want... but i dont follow blindly to what the media tells me, i hate our government and the shadow government behind it and i know that the media is controlled by the government therefore i dont trust it... im not voting for obama because its the "popular" thing to do or because "i have hope"
