Hey tty,

Sorry to disappoint but you nailed it "LUCK"----I still don't know and since I couldn't see the root zone with that plant in there and if something different was happening at that plant position----another reason I hated those holes in my tubes.

That plant was NL 5 from Sensi-----could it have been just the genetics?

When I first read your post it said bugs instead buds :D Yes, I've had my share bug wars.

Happenstance like this is luck. Investigating what happened and trying to replicate it is anything but... that process is called 'recognition and perseverance'. Good engineers do it for a living.

One afternoon I was chilin in my grow room doing smoke testing and thinking about how much I loved not answering to an alarm clock, a boss and having to fly around the country.

I ask myself----what is my mission? I came up this:

Produce the most world class marijuana the fastest
with the least amount of risk, effort, cost and space.

After that point I always tried to stay focused on that----especially the risk part.

edit: My theory about how to produce roots/buds like that:

True aeroponics----meaning the roots are truly suspended in the root chamber and not lying in a tube, fence post, etc (plus genetics
of course). Perhaps those roots were elevated on top of its neighbors roots????????

I've decided not to bore anyone with my adventures with law enforcement and the prison system.

So next up is location # 5

An excellent mission statement. I should know, mine reads about the same!

I never got the chance to be a frustrated engineer. I'm interested in anything you're willing to share about your experiences.
OK here goes:

In 2000 I was living in this last house owned by my "main guy"----about 20 miles outside of Raleigh NC.

I had never been in trouble with the law. One fall afternoon I was driving home on this country road with tobacco fields on both sides.

Got almost to my house when the blue lights came on----pulled over and looked in my side mirror-----a deputy was walking up with his gun drawn-----I keep both my hands on the steering wheel.

After identifying myself he said "we're already in down there" all very nice and professional like. I wasn't hand cuffed and when we got to the house I understood why-----had never seen as many cops in one place before.

I was met by the lead SBI agent who gave me the warrant to read. Turns out the SBI, two city police departments, county police and even the national guard was used to do a FLIR reading.

I offered to make a video explaining the operation and help them take it down (I could hear every defense lawyer in the country scream at me). I had about 4 lbs hanging to dry (the very night before had moved that much).

Over 10 lbs in NC carried a MMS of 25-30 months. These people weighed all the plant material and pronounced I had 50 lbs of marijuana-----if that were only true I'd be the weed god-----50 lbs from 5K flowering.

So I made the video and help take it down-----then this attractive young DA and the sheriff showed up along with this Boss Hogg looking fellow that handed me a bill for $157,000 for taxes for 50 lbs. Of course I could't (wouldn't) pay that so they started loading up all my personal property including all my tools down to my coffee maker and ironing board.

Of course they tried to get other names-----"rather burn in hell" was my reply.

Finally off to jail we go with me riding shotgun and not hand cuffed riding with the cop that first stopped me.

Found out the next morning my bail was set at $100,000-----insane, I had no other drugs or firearms on me or in the house.

Paid a bail bonds man $10,000 the next day and got out-----went looking for a lawyer.

outta gas now ( more later if interested).

Wow that sounds like a horribly bad dream!!! I'm legally able to flower 16 so I keep it right at that. Makes me laugh at how aggressive authorities are with a plant lol.

On another note grow looks good and look forward to seeing more.

Oh---the nightmare gets worse:o.

It is my dream to have a legal grow-----perhaps next election in Fl.

Do share, please
After I bonded out went looking for a lawyer-----I'd always heard----never use a public pretender.
Found one down in Wilmington that only wanted 15K up front----flat fee.

I explained the situation and was told he would drag my case out as long as possible.
After hearing that-----I started looking for a new place to grow----found one that another friend owned
and was even better than cool----he turned out to be my vice president of sales.

Fortunately, I had stashed away a few $ to live on several months and set up again.

I was confident after the truth came out about how much weight I actually had-----it wouldn't be so bad considering
my record and cooperation.

This is a good place to explore location # 5 and what this new place turned into.

Out on 100K bond

Location # 5 with no equipment but a house to start up in and seed I made (NL5 and C99). Fortunately, I had some $ stashed away.

I now had a chance for the upgrades I wanted.

Moveable tubes adjustable horizontally and vertically and no more fixed plant positions.

Here's what I came up with.

flexhose.jpg

Cut out a 9' x 5" wide section of schedule 40 pvc. I really like that blue hose (cobra line) to make transition from the supply line to the spray line drilled with 1/8" holes-----never had one to get clogged.

This pic is the pump end and drain.

slend.jpg

Pic of high end shot. Those 3/4" fittings were added for trellis (3/4" pvc pipe for plant support.

Getto spray line method just using green stuff-----worked fine----I just didn't like it.
hangingtubes.jpg

Eight tubes, 4 x 1K hps, air cooled on movers ( better shot of trellis with the ability to add more levels)

More later.

This is the getto trick I used to move the tubes apart-----super strut, I hooks, washers and nuts. Lift up the tube a little and "whip" the chain---worked fine----just felt there was a better.
blower.jpg

Room had a fireplace----ideal for exhaust.leaves.jpg
When I got around to getting up some reflective material----used a shinny fabric called foylonpanels.jpg
Pic of the vinyl panels used primarily to keep trash and critters out since the spray line really wasn't spraying.

I had an upholstery shop sew in some 1" wide velcro (hook and loop) and used medium paper binder clips to attach to the tubes (another don't like)----but it worked.
largeroots.jpg

I loved being able to look under the dresses of my girls----they seemed to be happy.rootsbumps.jpg

More root porn.pump.jpg

This is how the rez, supply and drain configuration was set up at first----I highly recommended always using those rubber Ts and Ls -----unless you're absolutely sure no changes will be needed (wish I was that smart) HEY WHERE THE SMILEY FACES GO?
res&tub.jpg

Later changed to this using a 50 gallon livestock trough and a 44 gallon rubber made garbage can (well pleased with both)--only wished they came with a lid option. It's only 12" tall and I fill it with about 35 gallons (same volume I fill the can with).

Hadn't found a float valve I liked until the "ro jo float valve (sorry no pic). Put one in the bottom rez and the can-----with a bleeder line running from the pump output back into the can------full volume of nute circulation----I really liked that, ALOT.input&return.jpg

Hope this gives an idea of how the rez and stuff were put together. My only "don't like" is didn't put valves in the drain lines (black things)

Great idea that cross with the screens, would have worked well for my air intake too... A mesh that blocks bugs but reduces intake with 66%, so leaves 33%, that x 3 openings on the cross is 100% again. Clean and simple.

Thanks S,

I found out very quickly that vinyl lasts no time. Stainless steel is the way to go.

In those pics----I cut little short length of 2" pipe and banged it in the cross----later started using clamps.

After about three ouches I trimmed off all the extra screen fray with a razor knife.

(aren't you about ready to harvest?)
