Hi guys I got a Outdoor setup way out bush, I'm thinking ahead and setting up a ibc water system for summer, at this stage im planning on 20 (large) plant sights near my ibc, I got my ibc situated roughly 10 meters from where my plants will be and roughly 2 meters elevated above them, I was just wondering if anyone has used a 1000L ibc as a Gravity fed irrigation for there plots during summer?... Possibly with a timer?... I'm after ideas on manifolds/timers/pipe sizes/ pipe lengths/ how long the water supply lasted you & how you went about re-filling your resivour after it starts to empty, pictures of your setup will be mint!

i use mine gravity style in my greenhouse . you could use a timer and a solar panel hooked to a pump with a float to refill once low . i would do 1/4 inch spagetti tubeing with no emitters .

Well I have another ibc at home, so I was thinking once the resivour at the plants get low I can go down to a spring a fill my ibc then late at night Go out to the bush grow and pump the water through the bush to the ibc supplying the plants... What kind of pump & solar panle do you have?

Im not far from you in fact next AFL state over from you...theres a couple good guerilla growers here from last season that can help you out a bit from aust to..hopefully they chime in with dome advice for you to.
Do you get any rain during summer at all where you could maybe dig a nice trench and line with plastic to catch any water etc if u got a rain or two ?

mine is from the company - farmtec - they make lots of types go to the website and check em out . the one i bought is upgraded and pricey . your solution sounds great :)

nah our summer is normaly dry as heck.. That dry that I'm more worried about bush fire burning my crop then rippers and police put together...I should be fine keeping the resivour topped up, it's from the res to the plants in worried about, as in will I have enuf pressure, I'm thinking a 19mm pipe to the center or a group of 4 plants and then spaghetti tubing coming of that to each plant..and what timer to use

head pressure should be ok if you have any fall at all.
there are many batttery operated (valve) timers.

Im going out there when i finish this swing at work next monday hopefully.
Just wanna get the rest of the gear out there in the holes and cages up...ill put in a couple fortnight old autos just so i can see when i return with one month old seedlings wether the spot has been come upon by other ppl or not.I think this is the right way to go about it ? Its not in dense bushland more like an old unused rundown farmhouse that only land nearby is farmed...hoping to.locate a previously used water line but it wouldnt have been used for 10 years if not 15

My patch is about 3km from a 4x4 track, (a pretty wet one at that) and I can leave track and get tops 500-600 meters from the patch, doubt anyone would go there but I've put cameras in the same area for 6months looking for deer last year and no ppl... I should get better pressure for a bigger pipe yeah?

Hmm so you can get your car 500m from your patch? If that's the case and you have the funds, set your tank up where you want it, now comes the fun part bury a line from your tank all the way up to your car ( keep it 15-20m from your car ) then a normal hose fitting in the top. and from the car you run regular garden hose to your Polly.
This will only work if your patch is lower than your car if not you will have to include a pump, or Cary water lol

Yeah pump is what I was thinking, I have a 30 meter fire hose I was going to use from car to a poly, so be easyer to roll out / roll up when done... The ground is full of large volcanic rock tho so burying the poly might get hard :/... See how it goes tho, I got a tiny petrol pump that we used on a farm that surprisingly pumps about 1km across paddocks to a tank no worries so I'll use that when I go to refill resivour
