bubble cloner questions

So...made a bubble cloner and wondering...

Any tips on when and how to pop the clones out of the cloner and into beer cups full of promix? Length of roots... how to set the clone in the mix without harming the new roots and etc...

Is it better to have the clone stems sit right in the water or ...????

Any help at all is welcome as i have never cloned before...

You want that cut angle in the water sipping, and the scraped sides getting hit by bubble droplets. Wait for roots to look healthy at about 3".

Fill the cup halfway with the plastic on the bottom covered when you lay the cup sideways - 45°. Lay the clone in there, add more medium to cover roots, tip vertically, fill more, lightly tamp, water with kelp/seaweed extract and vitamin B to prevent shock. Maybe foliar feed with kelp as well. Follow bottle directions.

Make sure there is adequate drainage or they will rot. But don't let them dry out either!

Excellent. Very specific instructions. Exactly what i was after.

Good timing too. Now i know how long to cut the clones...

The part about neither overwateringbor underwatering scare me. This has been my trouble all along with seeds...lol

Heat will be an obstacle. Expect losses in summer, and slow roots in winter. You can experiment with water temperature and see how that works for you. Your cloner is invaluable as it can easily turn 1 plants into dozens. Also, possibly more importantly, it can be used as an exodus to rescue genetics. If your mother is failing, cut it back, clone it, and rest assured your line will continue. Just don't wait too long, or the cuttings won't take.

Thanks for the tips. :)

Just don't wait too long .... to.... to clone a failing mother? The sicklier the harder it is to clone?

Also, what's a good water temp to start at?

And... I see a lot of people saying they don't use a humidity dome with the cloners...??? Yay or nay?

No to dome. I only use one when I clone in substrate.

70-80° F as an educated guess. I think mine is at 82° with 95-110° ambient temperatures. My clones aren't happy in summer, but hell, if they make it they can take on the world!

Doesnt get very hit up where i am at...and its starting to cool down for winter already. So i dont have the heat worries. But when it gets cold in a couple months i will have RH probs for sure. Cloning then will be a problem for sure. :P

My bubble cloner works the fastest at 72*,I had to buy an interval timer to make it work because of heat from the pump.

Ok paint the bin black so light don't get the roots to my blog:

https://www.rollitup.org/Journal/Entry/cloning-bubbler-n02-11-2009.28758/

Actually... i had read your blog and thats how i new that the original air pump i had bought was too weak. So i went and got a big bastard, which is the one pumping in the pic...lol

So i also new i need to black out the bin and i will once i can get to the right water temp and stablize it.

Thanks again. Youve been a great help with a number of things in the year ive been on RUI. And i hope youll stick around cause i need more yet...lol

But im getting there.

Speaking of water temp....

I was thinking that in my small prop room (5x3x7)...the 6 bulb t5 running in there keeps things pretty warm....if i leave that on up high will the ambient temp it creates bring the water up to temp in a couple days?

Or maybe i can use a heat mat under the res and put the thermometer in the res (it must be water proof) to bring it up higher if i need it?
