trimming before or after drying? does it matter if so why?

im about 2 weeks from harvest and im just wondering if its bettter to trim them before hanging to dry or if it would be better to let them dry first?

If you have your dry area humidity dialed in so they won't dry too fast, you can trim them wet. If you are like me and have slightly low humidity then it will be better to trim dry so you can dry them a little more slowly.

Pretty much the above. I've done both with around 50% humidity and they turned out the same after cure. Curing is honestly 80% of it. As long as you don't quick dry and follow the basics, a good cure will bring out the best potential regardless of if it were trimmed wet/dry.

Dry. Pull all the fan leafs and hang the plant for 7-10 days. the sugar leafs will cover the buds and let them slow dry/cure. Trim then.

I hang the whole plant upsidedown by the roots for the first few days. Then trim and rehang til dry.

I normally strip/trim wet fan leaves, then wet trim bud foliage about an inch away from the flower. After cutting stems into 6-8 inch buds and hanging them to dehydrate in a relatively dry and cool place for about 3 days; I begin the curing process with the jars at a constant 75F temperature which takes about 8 days. I leave as much thc on each flower that goes into the jar before curing. The relative humidity starts about 75% and I burp the jars each day until the average humidity drops to around 60%. For your rh range your should still be able to get a slow dry after a wet trim. A wet trim is easier in my experience. I'm drying in the 40-50% rh range, sometimes lower, so dry trim is better for me to get a slow dry.

Trimming as soon as possible is best for a couple reasons. Mostly because it is much easier and less time consuming to trim as soon as you pull the plant. If you hang a plant first all the small sugar leaves, the trim, wilt into the buds and are much tougher to trim. Also, buds will dry quicker if they are trimmed right away. Good luck, BigSteve.
