LEC's is gonna be my next purchase, local shop has the 630w model, 5 year warranty on ballast, no need for air-cooling, and a nasty wave length. wish there was a few more journals on them, but the few videos i have seen makes it look like a great option.

In order to match output with 4kW of HPS, I had to buy a dozen of them. Spectrum looks good though, that's why I got my 860W CDM lamps- which by the way are a lot cheaper than 315W.

My working hypothesis is that CXB3590 will stomp all over it, but I want to be sure...

The light isn't the main factor in the size of the bud, the genetic is. I'm so sick of people comparing the size of the buds between hps and led, the only thing that matters is the weight of the smokable bud at the end not the girth of the nuggets, which is mainly determined by genetics. I have plants grown under LEDs that have the exact same shape/ size buds as the same genetic on a HPS only difference is the overall weight the hps gets is higher.

I heard those CMH are over hyped, a dispensary I am familiar with experimented with those LEC's and filled up a side room with them. They shortly moved back to the 1kw duel ended bulbs and said they didn't like the LEC's as much. The CXB's should be able to produce a lot but they will lack the red spectrum that the HID lighting has, I would supplement some red in there if possible.

IME, pruning and training make a big difference in bud size.

They're a smaller version of the 860W CDM lamps I'm running now (with great results, check my thread pics today), the biggest difference is the low freeq square wave ballast they run on. It does make them run better but they aren't punching at double their wattage in HPS, that's just hype for the unwary.

In fact, that's why I'm trying to hold wattage expended as close to constant as my setup allows, so we can see the difference the lamps themselves make.

Yup, having the perfect canopy with no wasted light makes a huge difference no matter the light source , but imo the biggest factor is genetics. Here's a good example my skywalker og grows small og buds that are really hard , my golden goat grows huge buds that have above average density, but theres no way the skywalker bud would ever compare to the size of the golden goat they are just two different plants.
