Too Cold...Should I Harvest Early? Pics Included

So fall is here in full force in the midwest. We have had a cold front move through and it looks like it's not going to be letting up. I am dealing with highs in the low 60's and lows in the mid 40's. Somewhat typical for my location at this time of year. I am about 45 days into flower on a bagseed that has to be sativa dominate. I have been checking trichs and I would say I am at about 40% Clear, 50% cloudy, 10% Amber. Buds aren't huge by any means, but not tiny either. I feel like two more weeks and it would fill out nicely, however, I am not sure that this weather will allow it to do that anyways. I accidently snapped one branch off with about...10 buds on it the other day and got after it dried I have 6.2 grams. Smells like terrible wet hay now that it is curing and makes me sick just to smell it (not a mould smell though). I would guess that on the rest of the plant, I have about an ounce and a half dried, which would be plenty for me now. My question is...Should I bother letting it finish in this weather? I am torn between deciding. Part of me wants to let it finish, but the other part of me is saying I am just wasting time because this plant is doing nothing but being in survival mode in these temps and won't really do much. I could use these extra two weeks or so to start a new lowryder inside. I have uploaded some pictures to show trichs from yesterday...They are a bit blurry. My macro lens isn't the best on my DSLR. And another quick question. This hay smell...it will go away right? lol

They look like they could use another week or two but watch them as when it gets cool like you're mentioning they mature fast.

This is classic decision time when you're north enough to hit October frosts, rain and the like. For rain, if you have the option to bring them in (garage, shed) when there's heavy rains it'll help. Don't worry about the cooler temps like you mention above, they can be great for finishing them quicker and tightening up the buds. Mild frosts like when it hits around 33-35 are fine too, hard frosts or snow of course not good. Your worst enemy is mould, try and avoid heavy rains if you have an option to bring them inside or keep some form of air movement.

Don't worry about the hay smell,. particularly if you hung them when they were very wet (like from rain), dry and cure will get rid of it.

In the end, if you have no options, an early pick is better than mouldy or frozen weed

Your plant is in survival mode...this is where weight and potency take there stand... as long as there is no hard freeze and day time temps are in the upper 50ies...your good to go

Agreed, I like at least one mild frost to hit them, got lucky this week and had two of them, finished them off nicely. I think they end up with tighter/more dense buds if you get a couple of cool weeks towards the end. Can't remember ever having outdoor with fluffy buds.

Thanks guys, I will watch the trichs closely and let it finish off then. I just did the "manicuring" of the rest of the bud and shaved off another half gram so I would like to wait anyways. Rain isn't a problem. I have her in a 5 gallon bucket that I haul to a tented area when it rains. I also used green cure once for PM and never had a problem with mold since. Worms on the other hand, those have been around, but not for the past couple weeks. I had what I thought was bud rot twice early on in flowering, but both times the "mold" spot had a worm in it, so I did some research and found that bud worms can make nests too and it looks like the beginning of rot. No more problems now.

Our weather here is beginning of October harvests which is great for finishing outdoor with nice tight buds, other than the short seasons we have Have seen fluff indoor though, when I first went indoor I tried some cheap Chinese LED's which produced great quality but nothing but fluff for buds, 1/3rd of the weight I'm getting with CMH. Yeah the rot sucks, gotta have the right genetics. Ran a DIY cross for the first time this year which has fantastic resistance to mould and PM (PM is rampant in my area, bushes are covered in it by this time of year).

Damn, you don't mind a smallish branch breaking off but a large one sucks, good luck finishing them off. Good year where I am, unusually hot summer that really just ended a couple of weeks ago, then 2 weeks of cool weather to finish them off with no rain, almost perfect. Pulling them into the garage tonight, they just went through the second frost this week and they're good to go

Nice man, that plant looks a lot better than mine lol. This is my first grow so it isn't great. I have had multiple issues with it where I am sure it was just stressed too much but ya live and ya learn. Plants look sick though buddy.

Might also be a silly question, but when it say Day 129, is that from seed or flower? I mean that is clearly a heavy sativa.

Thanks man, happy with the haul this season for a couple of 10gal's. No worries, if this is your first grow there's lots of time to fine tune. I've been at it since late 80's so I've had a little practice

I just tracked total days outdoor, I track everything, kind of OCD that way These were indoor for 3 weeks from clone, then straight into the 10gal pots outdoor. That's about our maximum outdoor growing season here, end of May to about 1st week of October. There's some weight there, this cross is awesome, great taste/smell, fire, huge production and finishes in about 8 weeks, a little less indoor. It can push out 1oz/gallon of medium indoor. Just pollinated a couple of branches of one of these indoor for some F2 seeds It's definitely the sativa-dom pheno, have another almost exact smelling pheno going that's indica-dominant to see how it does, I describe the smell as Blueberry Creamsicle if there were such a thing.

Well enjoy the trimming lol. I have only trimmed one 1 foot branch and it felt like it took forever so when it comes time to do the whole plant, I will probably have a few drinks or something to get me through it. The manicuring part was a bit more..."fun" though.

My ritual for trimming is quick drying a bud from whatever I'm trimming and puffing it before the scissors come out I like many, hate the trimming part, I employ my GF who doesn't smoke it but likes the smell and doesn't mind trimming, win-win
