UFC fighter Nick Diaz was suspended 5 years for smoking weed! (Help by signing petition inside.)

The tragedy here is this.
We want crazy badasses to fight other killers and then we want them to act like business men.
It takes a special kind of crazy, Nick has that but its a double edged sword.
He has no off switch and a busted filter.
I love that about him.
But I aint no business man.
I hope he finds a way to get rich and train and be happy.
Well as happy as a diaz can be.
Let the man have his weed, that will make him happy.

I know a lot of fighters that use weed to calm down and increase focus.
Both are very helpful in a fight and training.
Performance enhancer?
For some it most assuredly is.
almost every jujitsu instructor i ever knew smoked pot???? whats wrong with that????

Marijuana can help reduce recovery time for athlete's. Reduces stress and helps relax muscles. I read that in a Men's Health magazine so it's true.

Might have been Playboy...

nothing, as long as you don't fail a test.
Where I do jits at least half the room is baked.
Creative, fun energy.
Again they didn't sign a contract.

im not into ufc or much sports.
but heres my opinion,

should he be allowed to smoke pot, sure , ...i dont see the harm with athletes smoking marijuana as it does nothing to enhance their performance like say steroids

did he sign a contract stating hes not allowed to do that or fail a test for drug use
yes.

so he is at fault he broke a contact. and now hes trying to make it into a big marijuana rights fight.

Tbh i think its fair, he has an unfair advantage over the other competitors on feeling more relaxed having an improved blood flow to his recovering mussels plus resting and sleeping better. It is still an illegal substance federal so yes its fair he gets his testicles removed.

Nobody is disputing a suspension. Cannabis is on the banned substance list, according to the Nevada Athletic Commission, which is the organization that handed Nick Diaz the egregious punishment. Nick Diaz is not saying he doesn't deserve to be suspended, what he is saying is, how can they give Diaz a 5 year suspension when the guy he fought, Anderson Silva, tested positive for PED's and only got a 1 year suspension? Does this sound fair to you? If it does, remember your stance, should you have any cannabis related encounters with the law.

I dont know man, maybe theyre trying to make a point its more ok to take certain substance enhancing substances than others? Trust me man ive stopped trying to make sense out of ridiculousness that comes out of america. Maybe PED's arent so bad for you afterall... hm thats a funny one.

I would like to see what they sign and the rules attached.
First offense, second etc..
To be honest, this is his 3rd time testing positive for cannabis, WHICH HE HAS A MEDICAL CARD FOR. But who cares?? The point is, cannabis is not going to increase strength and speed like PED's yet he got 5 years and the guy he fought only got 1 year for using STEROIDS!!!

Please stop saying it is not a performance enhancer.
ANYTHING that helps you get through the training camp easier than the guys not using it
Directly translates to a better performance.
Even if he wasn't high during the fight he reaped the benefits of being able to sleep, recover and relax.
Fighting is mental.
If weed gives you a mental edge it is a performance enhancer.

For me preworkout is a performance enhancer because its full of anhydrous caffeine.
It gets me in an energized state when all I want to do is stay home and rest so I can train.

I have asked the heavy smokers how weed helps or hurts them in the gym.
They notice no extra or decreased strength or endurance.
However, when the rest of us are on a grind just getting through another session.
They are laughing and enjoying.

Also when Im home not sleeping because I hurt, guess what they are doing?
Yep sleeping and recovering.

Also you can have all the med cards you want.
Your employer don't have to recognize it and you will be fired.

Next.
I take stands like this because I don't like people to play the victim card.
Yeah, you may be able to get sympathy and even have a point.
Congrats ypu are a victim.
An unemployed, bitter victim.

Reality.
You are a victim of you.
You have the power to choose.
You chose to again break the same rule.

Its, silly.

My bitterness in this case is from frustration.

He had the world by the balls and let it go.

very sad.

BUT, he chose this path.
Sure they hate him but they didn't put thc in his system again.

For the record.

I have used epo. It is a performance enhancer.
I knew it was not allowed but I gambled and cheated
Also got my ass kicked off. (epo don't stop you from getting clipped)
I'm not a prude, I just do not want people to make victims of themselves.
There aint no money in it!

It all comes down to this! Regardless if it is OR isn't a PED, why did they give him 5 years and the guy he was fighting only 1 year? Is this fair to you?

I don't watch fights anymore, getting too old to give a rubber fuck.... but anyone, don't care who or what they are, doesn't deserve any form of punishment for weed intake. That said, maybe if enough bad publicity is put on the NV Boxing Commission with it being legalized here next year, things may change. Yeah, he signed a contract, but in reality the laws (or conditions) against weed are not Constitutional in the first place so his contract should not be voided.

Probably something to do with being a repeat offender and the fact he told them in 2007 he'd never test positive again, skipped out on a 2009 test and then pissed positive two more times.

So, I have already stated this was his 3rd offense. Come on, 5 YEARS????? I bet you also agree that cannabis should be a schedule 1 drug too?

I signed the petition a while back and I'd sign it again. 5 years is ridiculous for such a minor offense . I also hope Diaz sues the NAC and wins a lot of money for this. Fucking tyranny government overreach at it's finest.
