Your gonna need a big fucking shed, but yes it would still be better than renting. Look into metal storage buildings or you could get a sea can.

And I used to build metal storage buildings, and now im just building way bigger building till the oilfield pops back up so that would be double. My biggest concern was going from 1200w to 4k or 5k at the house

Watts = Volts x Amps
Doubling voltage cuts amps in half, but current doesn't drop. You're being charged for the watts, not for amps drawn.

First of as said before its fine to grow in rented property, just keep the bills paid and the landlord happy, by leaving the house nicer than when you entered
If your going to build a building to grow in look at dropping 20gs at least if you want success, garage kits are cheap but you still need 150-200 amp service wired in with a few sub panels to split your 240/220 for your ballasts and 120/115 for your fans/pumps/scrubbers/dehyuies etc and an ac subpanel, minisplit 3-4ton for 6-8 lights, the heat of texas id want some damn good insultion as well.laying rebar and cement sucks ass and is expensive otherwise. Growing in a seacan would be like an oven unless you burried it.
Btw im a patch guy as well in alberta, maitnence/field operations

I've never had any 220 lights..the only 220 here is my water heater and range... So you are saying there is zero difference in the electric bill if its 220 or 110 lights?

Correct, the same amount of Kwh will be drawn but the amp load is halved on 220/240 so if you only had 30 amps of service at 120 thats 2 1000w lights(8.75 amps each) and a 600(little under 5 amps) to keep yourself under 24 amps, while at 240 and 30 amps could run four 1000s and 2 600s.

I would honestly just go about it differently. I would gain and maintain a good relationship with my landlord for a couple months before I started my project up. I feel like after 3 or 4 months of paying your rent on time you can get a feel for how nosey... Or not your neighbors, landlord, or anyone else may be. Just put the electric in your name and pay the bill.... Trying to get the run around on those guys normally leads to trouble imo. I haven't really heard of anyone getting busted cause their electric bill was to high, even when I lived in FL...

Believe me when I tell you that your young years and California location have insulated you from a lot of dark things in the heart of our country.

I'm not totally sure how this applies to my comment, and ive only lived in CA for a couple of years but have been in this industry a while...I would still apply my advice to a non MMJ friendly state.
