BML Spyder600 Review

Thanks. When you say 'best yields under the Spydr alone', did you use the Spydr from seed to harvest, or did you use the Spydr for flowering only? I have heard some don't use the first gen throughout the grow cycle because of stretch. Do you have any links to your grows?
I used the spydr in veg for a while actually, it performed well.

here is the only remaining photo I have of the harvest I was referring to in my earlier post
spydr yield.jpg

The second grow was a side by side that I did against DIY, its discussed in my thread , the spydr yielded a bit over 500g.
spydr side by side.JPG

last example I can provide is my latest grow on YouTube. The spydr is 28% of my total lighting for that run. "if" we attribute 28% of the total yield to the spydr, again it pulled a bit over 500g.
video found here.

So I guess the moral to my story is: BML is a great company, and their product consistently produces great results. (500+ grams in a 4x4 space) If I wasn't into building shit, I would probably buy more. to mix in along with other great cob fixture manufacturers around RIU
BUT, it never pulled the 800-900g I am used to getting from a 1000w HPS.

the V2 model is 450/660nm, mostly 660nm ........the spec looks familiar:wink:, using the same osram oslon chips as the zelion to hit those umol/j #??not sure, diodes look bigger, could be the lens though

i wouldn't consider this the IDEAL spec for flowering annuals, needs "white"/730nm imo or not. Posi will figure it out for us someday:mrgreen:
Psu why you gotta be rustling my monochromatic jimmies? ;) Imagine this light with 4 of the new A51 at 4000k. Mmmmmm

Growmau, thanks for all the details, do you use a 1000w HPS in a 4x4? I checked your DIY LED build. Looks awesome.

5sun...stop putting words in my mouth.

Never said "Amare was better".

Never said " bml sux compared to ......."

I agreed with the notion that the bml 600 being as good as 1000w in greenhouse setting is unlikely...gave my reasons why based on years of working in the commercial ag sector...and those reasons stated above had nothing to do with if the bml was a good light (despite the fact that I do NOT believe a bml 600 to be as powerful as a HID 1000w in any circumstance). My point was that the argument itself was erroneous. the statement that the light be used for that function was too generic to be useful. Not to mention OTHER THEN POT no commercial greenhouse would go with such a high priced light. Maybe a lab...not a commercial Ag business (keeping in mind that I do not consider a few dozen lights in a pot growing venture for a club commercial Ag).

What you're doing is asking questions then arguing with anyone that gives you an answer you don't like.

You "deduced" nothing...I stated they were Amare claims when i literally copy/pasted the email. If you cant tell the difference in relevance between umol claims and a claim that a bml600 functions as a 1000w under "generalized undetermined greenhouse conditions" and then troll about it? Well...."that's the internet" I guess.

If you need to misquote or take out of context in order to make your point...you really don't have a point to begin with.

Haha....nice. That would do it all right. Not playing around were you? What were you using to cool? Inlines or AC?
lol, yeah, we had to go as big as possible at the time. I was living with another grower, we were splitting everything right down the middle. We were running a 36000 btu mini split to keep everything cool.

I was wondering, Do you get much stretch with your cobs early flower?
My last run, there was a lot more stretch than I would have liked. This round , that I will show on YT soon, I am focusing everyday on minimizing stretch and keeping everything short and bushy.
-Day 1-4 of flowering, i continued LST , bending apical branches , trying to distribute those auxins.
-Day 1, 5, 8 I foliar sprayed a kelp solution mixed with an alfalfa derived tricantinol product
- I am keeping the lights much closer than I am usually comfortable with (8" from tops) & raising them every 3 days .

we shall see how all that goes.

It looks like GreenGenes Gardens are showing a lot more stretch as well under the cobs vs Apache.
It will be interesting to watch some of you boys grow with cob over the next year and see what evolves

I am on day 20 into flower with my Amares (granted im only using 2 of 4 of them) and got a bit more stretch then i would like. However the trich's and crystal development is much better then under my solis tech 1000w at 20 days so far. If the finish weight is comparable on a g/w ratio ill call it a win for the $ saving on electricity alone. Fingers crossed.

Bml told me they would be revealed in 3 weeks... that was 2 weeks ago. They said it was a full redesign. I'm stoked to see it.

It was supposed to be revealed to the public mid November, but that wasn't the official word. It just came through emails.

I pre-ordered mine and Travis told me they’re still on track to deliver the system November/December. I got a killer price for pre-order.

You ordered without having seen one? Do you know it differs from the current spydr's? I was going get a spydr 600 but figured I'd wait to see the new, I'm wondering if it's geared more for mmj

Yes, I ordered without ever seeing it. The price got me. I trust that it will be as good or better than the current one. Plenty of commercial and diy grows along with independent studies to show that BML is here to stay. They told me that this next gen fixture is geared towards mj. It is called the Spydrx. They are doing away with the 1000w version for this model. I'm anxiously awaiting it's arrival. It's possible this one will hit closer to 2 umol/j.

What's new about 600 and 1200? They just emailed a price for the Spyder 1000 save 600.00 I guess because there going to stop making them. What's the best spectrum to choose? They did say there will be a price decrease for 600 and 1200
