the screen is 9.5 inches above the buckets, but I am going to try and mainline these plants, and if that works, I wont be using the screen as a screen,, Ill be doing like fishdeth is doing in his current grow and using the scrog and just a few strings to hold up cola's ,, but If i screw up,, then Ill just end up topping and use the screen as a back up plan,, hope that made sense
Oh ok sweet thanks. I only have 3 feet of head room so I might do half of that. Main lining works pretty good makes a nice even canopy I've done it twice it works nice in hydro but it takes forever in soil it sucks. My main grow I'm mainlining 6 plants and plan on scrogging them out in my 5x5 I thought about mainlining my two for my cab too but it'll take to long I just fim'd them and will top a few times too to get them bushy them scrog over that. It should work out good. Mainlining is pretty easy to do just takes some time and lots of pruning and topping.

Good to hear mainlining has worked so well, scroggin was pretty easy and filled the box very well last time, someone told the best scrog height for indoor was six inches, tight lst for sure

this mornings fun
setting the ph meter calibration, using ph packets and GH drops as a secondary test, all are reading equal now
then welcome to the world of hempy buckets, mixing nutes, setting ppm and ph,, then hand watering,, passive hydro at its best, been giving them nutes in the morning, straight water at night, simulating 2 flood drains per day,
Ok I gotta go look for light bulbs around the houseIMG_8638.JPG IMG_8639.JPG IMG_8640.JPG

Yeah I was reading 6-9 inches is good, I'll probably try somewhere between there and see how that works out, I got the rest of the pvc to make my scrog frame. Than I gotta bleach/clean up my cab and hang up my cobs and it'll be ready to go. How long did it take you to fill out your screen in your last grow. I was thinking of filling it to like 60-70% than letting the rest fill it in during stretch so they don't get to tall. Seen guys fill in the screen during veg than they stretch like crazy but I'm only working with 3' of head room haha.

yes you have the right idea going, stay with what you just said and you will do very well,, I got my last plants as teenagers, and the tops were just touching the bottom of the screen in some places, I vegged for about 10 days from that point, I would guess my screen was 75 to 80 percent filled, and then I flipped the lights to 12 12 and continued to thread the tops around the screen for an additional 10 days, and it was perfect, and yes at that point let them finish stretch going up so you get cola's and your cola's will be about 6 to 8 inches above the screen when done,,

the hardware store only had 1 Y splitter in stock so I stuck another 26 watt cfl in there, I will get another Y splitter tomorrow while I am out in a differant town, then it will be 4 cfls , there has been zero growth upwards yet, the leafs seem just the same, so its all going downward in roots at this point, so just keeping them alive and happy waiting for things to explode, everyone says hempy buckets do that, just have to wait for the roots to grow down to the res, IMG_8645.JPGIMG_8646.JPG IMG_8647.JPG

Ack... it's one of those cheapo chinese pens, eh? I have one, too, in case my ancient Hanna decides to fail on me. But those CC pH pens need constant calibration, unless you luck out by some miracle.
Nevertheless, they do work.

Nice wardrobe there bro.what big light you going to run with in flower?
Do you not see that rack of COBs hovering above?

Lol, yup cheep pH stick, I guess that's why I did not trust it much, and verify results with the pH drops

How are those taproots coming along? Did they hit the res yet?
Good to hear from you, Your right on the money with your question, when I was learning about hempy buckets I kept wondering what growers meant when they would say " when the roots hit the res it Takes Off, explosive growth",, So right now the clones look very much like they did when I transplanted them 1 week ago, Some guys said its impossible to over water with hempy, Well let me tell you , its very posible to make them droopy, I over loved the J1 on the right and it got droopy, but I let the buckets dry out for 30 hours and it was snappy back to perky,
One thing that big over soil is I now have the ability to measure the run off for nute level and ph, So I mixed up some nutes yesterday that was 225pm and ph 5.8,, ,, the resulting run off out the side hole was 115ppm and ph 6.5,
there is a new set of leaves starting to come out of the right hand J1, the Gorilla glue 4 looks fantastic, dark green leaves, , I have 4 cfls really close to the plants now, and its a waiting game,,,I cant see the roots anywhere thru the sides of the buckets yes, so i can only think the roots are getting close to the res,
when i transplanted last sunday the GG4 had just one big root showing on the edge of the rooting cube, the J1 had roots all around the cube, and they were 10 days old at that time, so now the clones are 17 days old,,
This thing should take off running any day,, thanks for checking in

Ahh nice to see everything is coming along nicely, I'm really interested as well about that explosive growth. DWC sounds like a lot of work, whilst soil is basically just checking the pH every month and the basic watering, but hempy buckets seem like something in the middle. Not too easy, because you have to check the ppm, pH etc. so you have something to do, but also no res change, root rot, algea etc.
I'll have to try it one day.

Houston, start the count down, we are ready for take off. :D
