But they are for PPM of anything, they don't care what is in it so long as its below a certain amount and so long as it isn't anything that can get them in trouble.

I had some buds that worked at water purification plants, lol. I'm blowing a bowl right now remember some of those guys. bongsmilie

where you stay matters different levels of calcium carbonate/fluorine/and chlorine amine leaving it out for a few days usually removes the chlorine amine and fluoride but only a reverse osmosis machine can help you with the calcium carbonate man if your waters too hard but you might need a ro if the levels of chlorine amine/fluoride are too high anyway

Ensure you keep an eye out for Mg. Def, as you will be stripping out the calcium of your water, why not be like most dwc guys and let the water sit overnight, allowing it to out gas?
My city water has a ppm of 172. I fill gallon jugs and let sit for a few days to remove chlorine.
I've been using distilled water with technaflora recipe for success. 7.5 ml of cla/mag per gallon. It's always worked well for me on small grows. Now I'm using 5 gallon buckets w/10" net pots, a 4" rockwool cube surrounded by hydroton and its getting to be inconvenient to keep using distilled water. Is my city tap OK to use in my hydro setup after removing most chlorine from it?
If not I'll just stay with distilled water in gallon jugs I can't find anything bigger

If your tap water is 172 I would use it too. I would run that in hydro.

Anything over 200ppm is considered hard water out the tap. Why are people stressing about chlorine in the water? It's so minima and we even drink it. It won't harm the plants.
Thanks for this. Mine is 172 ppm after sitting overnight open in a gallon jug.
I'm going to use it on my next water change in 6 days and see how my ladies do. Since I add 7.5 ml of cal/ mag to each gal I'm hoping this will be good getting tired of buying 12 gallons of distilled water each week
Thanks again

Mine is 800PPM (I measured it and re-calibrated my EC meter and it was slightly higher!) and the pH is 7.8. That is manageable but I tried it in good soil and the seedling about died. First seedling I have even had that the leaves turned almost white with purple edges. This isn't fit for livestock. In Alaska my PPM was around 150 and it ran fine. Not a hitch in DWC.

I understand the reasoning behind letting it sit to get the clorine out. But at the same time I dont understand why, are you using organics or something ? My tap has been staying around 500 straight from the sink and ph is around 8.6, after I u just the ph and ad my nutes I always ad 6 to 8 drops per gallon of bleach to the mix to keep things nice and starel. And I have been getting AWSOME results in soil

I am fortunate enough to live where we have the US's 2nd best water rating. PPM is 115-117. I use it straight in flower, and use it 50/50 with distilled water in Veg.

Next investment is an RO system to do 50% of veg, but will always use tap elsewhere.
