Das Bud Meisters Incredible Bulk/Master Kush Grow (400W HPS)

Hey guys let me introduce you to my first indoor grow!

I will be running a 400w hps in my 4x4 grow tent- for my growing medium I am using multipurpose compost from my local garden centre with added perlite (soil : perlite is 3:1). I hope to be running AN Sensi grow and bloom two part but I still need to order them!

The seeds have just been placed in soil having been soaked for 24hrs in plain water then placed in moist paper towels for another 2 days. Below is a picture of my current setup, the bulb you see is my 105w CFL which I am planning on using for the first few weeks of veg- do you guys think this will be enough? I was also thinking of supplementing my 400w bulb with the 105w throughout the grow what do you reckon?

Growing three strains:

-1 x Incredible Bulk
-3 x Master Kush
-1 x Holy Grail 69 (free seed)

exciting, did you grab the MK on sale from nirvana?, im growing the same strain and started about the same time as you.. I used a 11w or "40" watt cfl for the first week of my seedlings, it worked fine just a little streching is all, and yes, imo you should ad the 105w with the 400w if you want a SLIGHTLY bigger yield

So I woke up to a nice surprise this morning- two of my girls are showing their little heads! The IB and the holy grail 69 popped but I'm still waiting on all 3 MK seeds- hopefully it's just a coincidence and not a 'lack-lustre' batch of seeds!

The three MK seeds had the smallest taproots when I transferred them to soil so maybe they'll need a day or two longer.

I'll post some pics when I get back from work!

Forgot to post an update yesterday rushed straight out from work to a kickboxing lesson!

sooo.... Day 1 progress:

So far 4/5 of my girls have popped up to say hello! currently waiting on the MK #1 seed to show her face, I won't be too annoyed if it dies as I was debating whether or not to grow 4 or 5 plants in the first place- looks like nature could have decided for me! Some pictures below of how they're going. So far the Incredible Bulk is looking the healthiest and shes also arrow straight which is nice to see!

Holy Grail 69: looking healthy, first leaves showing through, slight bend towards the light, might spin her round to see if she reacts.





Master Kush #3: smallest of the bunch but looking healthy non the less, think she may have been the last to come through the soil but has a nice thick stem (for this stage)



Master Kush #2: cotelydons dont seem to opened fully, not sure if this will do any harm in the future but im just going to see how she goes! same as the MK #3 as she has a bit of a crooked stem also.




Incredible Bulk: Look how straight she is!! my emerging favourite so far (I know I shouldnt pick favourites yet lol), slightly worried about the stretch- dont suppose anyone can tell me if this is too much or not? Ignore the 'Master Kush' sticker it fell off another cup haha

Hope you guys enjoy! If anyone can advise my on how to straighten them up that would be great and also if the ammount of stretch is normal? light is only about 6 inches away as Ive had it on now for around 36 hours and its still not too hot to touch! Yeah I got them in the nirvana sale, hoping I get some decent genetics from them- have you tried them before? When do you think I should stick them under the 400? I was thinking when they're about 10 days old maybe?

I don't remember the seed-bank I used last time so no experience with the strain or seed-bank but it was like 6 years since my last grow, looks like we ordered the same seeds though around the same time, im looking forward to following your grow and comparing along the way! I was a "caregiver" for my parents when I was still living at home so I grew for them for a couple years, Oregon just legalized this past year and legality was my only reason for not growing since im no longer a "caregiver"..I will, but to be honest im learning all over again myself. love how much info is on the web these days though makes things alot more simple.

Day 4 update:

Decided to throw away the final MK seed- I was quite right too as I looked in the soil before chucking it and the root had grown into a huge thick spiral- quite annoying really but what can you do!

Also decided to add some soil to my cups due to the stretching- they've now been less than 2 inches away from the 105w for a few days and seem to be content with no burns!

MK #2: the cotyledon never opened up a bit so I had to force it down and may have damaged a bit- seems to be doing ok though

Day 7:

Finally a week old! Glad I've got four healthy looking plants at the end of my first week haha

Debating starting an extremely light watering with my nutes tomorrow, something like 1/8th strength maybe? I think I'm probably being over-keen so I might leave it till the water after next.

Here's some photos of my girls on day 7:

Incredible Bulk: still the biggest of the bunch so far, as I expected really- she absolutely dwarfs the Master Kush plants



MK#2: looking good, can see those wide old indica leaves starting to take shape



MK#3: still behind the other 3 but I'm thinking either she's still stressed from the broken cotyledon or she's still mourning the loss of MK#1- I'll be interested to see if she will handle a small dose of nutes





HG69: so far so good, have no idea about this strain (was a free seed) an leafly doesn't have any information on it- anyone have any info?? Best I could find was Holy Grail Kush which might explain the round(ish) leaves.

Looks a bit yellow in this photo but it must be the light as they're all looking a nice shade of green!


Again, let me know if you can recommend I do anything different, this is quite a steep learning curve haha. Thanks for checking in,

Day 9 quick update:

Moved my girls under the 400 for the first time but I'm keeping it well over a foot away, temperatures have soared so I'm having to run with the door open during lights on- can anyone tell me if this is an issue? I'm picking up a new oscillating fan tomorrow and getting some more ducting so I can suck the hot air from the top of my tent. First water with nutes seems to have gone down well after tomorrow water water I'll step it up to 1/4 I think.

On to the plants... Sorry about the terrible picture quality the light in my room is crap!

IB: looking a bit unhealthy imo, first set of true leaves seem to be a bit drooped, not sure what this could be as the soil is fairly dry so it's probably not overwatering?



Holy Grail: seems to have really taken off the past few days, looking really healthy, must've loved the nutes!



MK#3: so far the slowest growing, much bigger leaves than the other MK strain, maybe a more indica dominant pheno or something?



MK#2: looking good also, can see the thinner leaves than the other MK, will be interested to see how they differ in the future!


Looking to transplant at the weekend probably (day 11/12) might be slightly early but I removed a bit of the tape around the bottom of one of the cups and could see a little root growth.
