lol, yeah that was the nicest part of this cross, increased production by 20-30% and maintained the fire & frost from JTR. Some of these sat-indica crosses can produce some nice weed
I've been running 95% TGA as long as I've been growing except for my first go round... and have come across some amazing keepers when I was a newb.... But thought that just cuz I needed room for the more and more of these dumb ass (non-tga or other non-reputable breeder) strains I was popping, I could let those amazing strains go and just buy more seeds of the same strain and bang.... boom... same phenotype right off the ripper.... As we all know (now I know very well too) it doesnt work like that... when you get a keeper, YOU KEEP IT ASSHOLE.......
But for the past 2 years or so I've had a friend and patient helping me out when I need it and my friend is an older gentleman.. Not OLD old but I'm in my mid 30's and he just hit 60 so you get an idea of the age gap...
He has that old school mentality that I'm throwing away literal gold when I trim buds nice and tight trying to get rid of as much leaf as I can without cutting bud and make butter with the trim, dude would actually get mad about it, LOL... "thats weight your throwing away"... He just doesnt get it yet, honestly because I have yet to wow him with a 1 in a 100 strain that doesnt have very much leaf at all and has a more pronounced taste rather than harshness from the leaf matter... basically making it taste like everyday "pot"....
But since he's been helping me all he talks about is Acapulco gold (man......) and how it was actually gold (man.......) but what he doesnt get is that the shit he was getting while probably the best shit he'd had up till that point, he most likely got himself higher when he got the phone call saying "I got some acapulco gold man......"... And/or the look of it rather than the actual smoking part... And the fact that it was probably "gold" because it was packaged wet and not actually "acapulco" but rather some random decent mexicali bud because he had never seen seedless until the late 80's early 90's from his recollection (not AG)...As well as he said half the acapulco he got was seeded to high hell but it was worth it... so it must have been good I guess....
But my man is insistent on me picking up a pack of barneys farm Acapulco gold and having me grow it out... Now I dont mind doing so at all, I love growing new strains especially when I a patient puts some effort in and researches it and looks for what they want, but he just sees the name and because its a legit seed company..... it gotta be the right shit....right? I tried explaining the current state of how good genetics get to us that cant get clones... but he dont get it......
But sorry to make you read all that bullshit to get to my actual question... But any of you old school guys out there that have actually had the real deal Acapulco gold back in the day and possibly know a worthwhile strain that I could give this guy a wake up call with that could possibly give him that nostalgia he's looking for as well as something worthwhile for other patients that need medicine rather than nostalgia.. (No knocks on barneys farm but I've been there and done their seeds... not what I want)...
No matter what Ive done since we've started working together I havent been able to show him that "HOLY FUCKING SHIT BRO.... It tastes like candy or pussy (good tasting pussy anyhow) or something other than pot that tastes like regular ole pot and has a different effect than the typically "loved by the masses"... couch lock pot...

Get some malawi or mulanje from malberry, via hemp depot, and maybe that will have him floating. Ask @Mohican about that.
I too have a whole bunch of different things going, but the TGA has always been flavorful for me. Currently I have some Gage, Sensi Shiva Skunks, a BF Critical Kush freebie, WOS South African Kwazulu, VIetnamese sativas, Cambodian Sativas, some Karma gear, Conoisseur Genetics Rainbow Jones, Dr Who, Chernobyl, Conspiracy Kush, Blue Dream, 707 Headband, and a few auto seeds auto chemdog freebies.

does your dr. who have a cheesy kind of smell in the jars?? or is it kinda sweet and sour? the lime pheno i have is like cheesy smell in the jars, and the purpley pheno is sweet/sour smell. both killer quality smoke. tons of trichs...

@ShLUbY, My Dr. Who(that I kept) is more sour, maybe slight chem-cheesy. I had 2 other phenos, 1 oily mouth coating, another sour, but neither would stop stretching..... I ran them 2 rounds to be sure.....
The only female 9lb I saw had great flavor, but yield, potency, and vigor were lacking. I have one 9lb baby up now, let's hope she's a girl! I had high hopes for this strain....

yeah i only got 1 female out of the 9lb i sprouted... i wish i could capture with picture what i see with my eyes.... i need to take a photography class lol. here she is at 39days! i usually harvest at 50 days with this strain...

I have some malawi gold/swazberry(I think 0???) from malberry/hemp depot I think..... Also the "blue in green" by gage green I have running is what I chose for a blue dream seeing another patient was hounding me for that so I figured something by gage green was a better choice seeing I couldnt really find the "real" blue dream...
But I've had the golden ticket pheno of chernol... let it go... along with 2 others that were dank as hell but those were let go out of fear of jail time rather than foolishness... I had 2 amazing phenos of querkle, HAD 2 amazing phenos of jilly, lol... I can never make that final cull between the last 2 but I've managed to hang onto a really nice qush pheno, 2 cheese quake phenos that I havent sampled in over a year but just put into 12/12 recently to see if theyre worth hanging onto any longer, or am I gonna start from scratch for the new year... I'm gonna do some searching around and by the end of the week I think I'll place an order... I seen 2 different 10 packs from gage green genetics on hemp depot last night that were running into the $250+ ($256 exactly I think) range... Things are getting pricey but I've been trying to find a reason to spend $200 or whatever it costs for a pack of jack herer...
But I think something to help my buddy out as well as something very lemony like JC2 is in order aside from whatever else I pick....
On a side note..... Ever get so high and infected with the munchies your stuck to the couch the next day paying with pain as your currency due to your horrific eating adventure? "I'm getting to old for this shit"....(the eating garbage part)....

great post i can relate. you're right about making sure to keep the keepers. and don't be a dumbass like me, get all fucked up, cut a few clones and label just 1 wrong.
another strain i had went away because of a series of bad events. it was supposedly called purple kush that they said was clone only. no idea the origins of it but was one of the most unique plants i ever grew. it did not need any topping or bending. it grew naturally on it's own wider than it did tall. leaves and buds turned purple without cold temps or extended flowering times. i dont know how i lost it but a friend let me cut a few clones of one he had the i previously gave to him, i transported them in a cup of water, put them in an aero cloner, the stems got soggy and they didnt make it. tragic series of events. the guy i got it from to begin with didnt have it. the guy he got it from actually got raided. then the one guy i gave it to before, eventually had a fire and lost his entire grow beyond recognition. propane tanks exploding and all. fire dept didnt even know there was a grow. strain became locally extinct due to doing drugs and not doing sleep, maybe having a few drinks, dirty cops, carelessness, and perhaps fate. like in the tech world you always need to make a copy of a copy of a copy.
be careful with partnerships. friend of mine told me when i first started that it will turn your best friend into your worst enemy. he was right from what i seen between people. it's one thing that we always have to buy more equipment, but they also have to consider labor plus for some of us all the years it has taken to acquire knowledge and experience. then after years of living in fear for choosing to grow during prohibition, most of us really dont like doing charity work. sure hasnt got anyone i know into early retirement. we want to reap what we sow. stay young my friend and gl

I hear you man I have had this picture of healthy eating/living that since I started growing I've been trying to live up to as I am literally getting to old for it amongst the other atrocities I've put my body through up to this point of my life, but I'm not overweight, I'm not unhealthy but I honestly dont fell right, I feel sluggish and blahhhhh and it coincides with my diet as of late.... I get busy at work, I dont eat or eat like shit during the day, then for dinner its pizza, pizza, diner food...and pizza.... I'm a bachelor with little to no time so I'm sure you gets it... I dont know much longer I'll be alive if I keep spending my sundays on the couch writhing in pain because of the literal pound of some kind of sugar in my stomach is trying to kill me by my own hands... I keep going to the "mart" type stores trying to find a proper juicer/vegger but I cant find one I want, they seem to sell shit to make smoothies and fruity frozen drinks but nothing thats going to make straight up veg/fruit juice...It may be for a reason, lol.. people that are healthy dont but "family and share size" bags of Doritos and 7 pound bags of starbursts... so why would they sell something that doesnt sell like crack.... (that capital D in the word doritos was put in there by my spell check because I thought I spelled it wrong and right clicked to see the proper spelling but obviously they need to be advertised properly in forums as well...lol)
I need to do a good 30 day pure vegetable-fruit juice fast or cleanse or whatever its called... I've never felt so un-well in my life... I dont eat fast food, I drink very little soda maybe twice a week but any at all is too much IMO at this point but I swear man I've never been a believer in the candy/shit food market actually putting things that would actual addict people to it but its the truth man... Nothing but sugar filled garbage tastes good to me, my tastebuds have literally been ruined by the stuff and need re-training to "real sugar" that comes from fruit etc... I feel like I abused my dogs but I tested my addictive food theory on them and gave them each 1 starbursts gummy, I bought a pack a week or so later (I do the most damage on the weekends....) but the dogs got one whiff of the same candy and went absolutely insane... These are pitbulls. they swallow things whole never even tasting what I give them... but whatever is in those things is like crystal meth man... Now how many millions of parents use that type of shit to shut their kids up in walgreens??? I know its not a new problem but I think they're putting new and improved "flavor enhancers" in stuff nowadays because its literally addictive... The new gatorade flavors they recently came out with are the same, my kid brother goes nowhere without a "blue cherry" gatorade in his hands.... 24/7... I'm honestly more scared of what our government is letting the corporations do to us than the big scarry T word...
Thats the one man.... I've been trying to figure out what strain I was going to get for myself and you answered my question with that post.... That brian berry looks dank-itty dank dank.... Keep posting pics of that up to harvest PLEASE....
