sense of humor?

just wondering about this, but is your sense of humor and ability to make jokes determined by nature, or nurture? can you actively make yourself funnier? if so, how? seems like it should be like any other quality, where you could improve it if you wanted to... anyone ever think about this? i know it sounds like a weird concept, but has anyone had a "formula" that they followed which make them more adept at observing funny situations etc.?

im not really counting on anyone responding to this topic since its just me rambling...:roll::roll:

All right....I think that your sense of humor is determined by nurture and nature. Nurture because you sorta get either your moms or your dads sense of humor at first. Then, as you get older, you really start to get your parents sense of humor, just because there the people you've been around most. As you get even older though, you are exposed to more people, and a different variety of people. You will either fall in with a croud of people that have your sense of humor, or you will develop a different sense of humor in order to fit in with a different croud. Its mostly about the people your around, and the people your exposed to....But it also has to do with genetics as well. TV may also have an affect, depending on what you watch.

lol
it was inevitable haha. my internet sense of humor just doesnt seem to translate i find anyway.

it just kind of occured to me that in certain stages of my life, i am a lot more quick witted when comparing myself to... myself(?). was just wondering what can influence it. as much as i like to think being funny is an art and just happens, there is definitely a lot of science behind it and it can be broken down into basic fundamentals. i have thought about just keeping a pen and pad with me at all times and just writing down funny observations i make. seems like that is a good way to keep sharp.

Definitely agree on this. An example of this for me personally was going from my high school friends, where if I were to give myself a grade, I was maybe somewhere in the middle of the most humorous of our group. But when I came to college and made new friends and met new people, people seemed to really appreciate my sense of humor, which to be honest, felt great. So the people you are around can have a huge impact on you. Surround yourself with funny people that challenge you to be funny, and more than likely, you'll be funny too.
