For the money on CFLs, the mounting hardware, probably no reflectors (radiating lost light), an inexpensive HID might be better, easier to work with, more useable light reaching your plants for the electricity used.. MikeTaco found something for $90 on eBay. Might be worth a look.

If I were going to hang all those bulbs, I would spend more on Cree LED PAR38 spot/flood light for more lumens per watt. You could do it with 35w/sq ft. That's 315w total compared to your 768w.

I forgot about thermometer just bought that wed. Thanks and I got the cfls for 5$ a 4pack and the large ones for 60 for both and I already have the sockets from old grows so I only payed 80 for all the cfls but 600 mh/hps is next when I get the money. And I'm planing on using the 10 gal for a res after flowering because of the 5 week veg I'm going to do
Are RO systems good to have I mean for the money

you can try your tap water find out if works for you let set out 24 hrs before using chlorine not good
5 week veg not that large of plant
got one this veg 5 weeks in flower 2 drinks 1/4 gal a day
WP_000683.jpg WP_000685.jpg this one 12 weeks veg. going in 40 x 40 inch scrog Monday WP_000686.jpg only drinks 1/2 gal a day in 5 gal black bucket going for one plant one pound

Speaking of needing venting, don't let the "low heat" cfl's fool you, that many in a smaller area crank out some heat. I had 1 250w and 4 26w cfl's in a 36x18x30 cabinet and it hit 100 deg f in about 45 minutes with an ambient room temp of 70. And i had 4 - 4" computer fans pulling air thru the cabinet. Had to scrap those and pull air with a 4" 170cfm in line fan.

Using tap water with small amounts of chorine in it wont harm your plants, that's a grow forum myth. www.cannaversity.com/cannaversity/article.php?id=101

I agree with jailbyrd. I think vent system is just as important as type of light. I have about 350w in 5x2 of cfls, have struggled with heat and vent issues for months and I have finally got it dialed in now. Is the grow area a closet or room that gets no fresh air?

The light setup looks fine to me. Plenty of coverage for 9sq ft. in my opinion.
Yeah but all that other good stuff and the using cfl lighting? Unless the 250w and 150w are hid harvests will not be great. For a 3x3 a 600w hid is the best way to go imo. This is coming from a friend floro buld grower. I have had good results with ho t5 but still not as good as a hps.

There's definitely no debate on what will yield more, but for a first time hydro it'll give them more time to work out the kinks without having to deal with excessive heat and overgrowth.

Once they get the hang of it, absolutely get an HID setup.

Only micro pros pull anything worthy out from under flouros.... Upgrade to the hps you will never regret it
I have done pretty well using all t5 ho lighting. But yeah for sure just do it right the first time. Take it from someone that has a large pile of lights and is finally getting a 600w hps, spend the money once on a hps. I could have 3 600w Lumitek ballasts and nice air cooled reflectors for want i have spent on floro and led lighting. ( I know cob kicks ass) Unless you are doing a micro grow floro lighting just does not keep up with a larger space and 2+ plants 10" + tall. 2x2' 250w-400w hps 3x3 space 400w-600w hps 4x4 600w-1000w hps. I have reached the limit of what I can do with my t5 ho lighting, you will have a limiting factor in every grow and mine at this point is lighting. Dont let light be a limiting factor.

My complete room temp is 72 same in grow area I jerry rigged till I get my tent have not hooked up my lights yet so we will see what the temp is then
