Hey iam on a confusing quest to make a panel.I've been following growmau specpl and eg. And I'm so impressed I no longer want to buy a panel or use hps

I'm reading so much and attend the tech talk on the tube.
But bits I'm struggling on are

Finding or knowing a good bin they all so many codes
Understanding mA is it just adding more chips to a driver makes them run at less? How do I pick.
Mean well seems to be commonly used but isn't that a cheap Chinese driver am I not better with UK made?

Now my aim is to build led panels to replace my 600w lights
I'm in a 2.4x1.2 loft room and will be using 6-8 plants
I aim for 8-10oz per plant if it helps lol

I don't understand nwhy everyone is using the 3590 white LEDs now what happened to mono red n blue ledd?

In the UK I'm struggling to find a place that sells a strip of that heatsink shit the bml and some use . seems great way to disperse heat.

I do veg and flower in same tent I'm starting on a gnmsooo6 but will build and add this light when its done.

Just hoping one of you might pop here and answer my questions and help me with what would be best to buy as I don't trust myself I'm new in this still feels weird that I can make a light that gives me my meds lol love it

Love to all u freaking rock I'm reading so much I'm going nuts sore eyes lol

You will want 1000 ppfd. So over that 2.84 m2 you need about 3000 PPF before reflector losses. 1 cxb3590 3500k CD @ 1400ma is roughly 128 PPF so you will need 24 of those 6 hlg-185hc1400 a/b to do the job. Now heatsinks can vary widely on selection and size. If looking to passively cool the 5.88 heatsink USA profile is a good choice for you at 40". 4 cobs per bar 6 bars and you'll rock that area like you never have before.

Edit you are in the UK........ Not sure on heatsinks for you. CPU coolers is an option. Also budget plays a role as well. You can run these cobs harder or softer to either save on cost of the build (harder) or maximize efficiency (softer).

Lots of options on various HS profiles in EU and probably cheaper than HSUSA, too.

Am I right in thinking that would be like £2000?!? Wtf lol

24 CXB3590 would be 960-1200 dollars from Kingbrite.
HLG185H-C1400B is 70 euros on mouser which is like 52 pounds, so around 315 pounds added.

That's most of the cost..

How much wattage do currently have in HPS?

well i had 3x 600watt,
but id be happy replacing them 1 at a time ,
or kinda splitting a pannel into 2 that would equal a 600w so i had better coverage, and an affordable target
i kinda dont have 2k in hands straight away lol, after a grow yeah maybe,

but what im looking at atm,ive just rebuilt it all and moved into the loft,
so hoped to start with lighting is my Grow nothern ms006, and 1x 600watt,
but id rather GNMS006 and a diy led,

thatsa hps?
i like the cxb3590s i just think i need alot cheaper pannels to repalce i see indi using a pannel with 2 cobs ... whats that about that seems to work..

@2could you could start with only 16/20 cxb3590 @1400mA if well spaced (880w..1100w)
But if you have enough money to go for a cxb 3590 3500ºk 36V CD run by Meanwell hlg-185/240-1050b (5 on the 185 & 6 on the 240!) Over each sq/ft it is the best configuration possible imo...so 32 chips @1050mA

You want to max your G/ft, or harvest about the same with lower wattage?

i want to try hit my yeild targets i noramtly get :)
2.4x1.2 6-8 plants i use coco advanced nutes 30l pot, so plants get big and i use LST to spread them out,
i rnormaly get 6-10ounce a plant, strain dependant ofc :D
does this help at all :S?

also i was hoping to spend like $400 and then again $400 in a month or so and again after that :S
so yeah i hoped to start smaller with somthing xD shock onm the price but i see and know why more now, if i coudl max my g/pfoot section at a time ?
but yeah whats $400 gona do, profiling etc i can handle $400 is for led drivers etc

and hwo do you run them at lower watage (softer) eficent etc is there a controller im missing to controll them ? or is it more led per circuite lower thell run?

What he said.

As far as yield targets, 400 watts is going to give you similar or better yields over the 600 HPS if you're driving CXB3590s at 1.4 amps. You could do a 200w 4 cob strip lamp for under $400. 6 of those and you would replace all the HPS.

For 400$ you could have the hlg-240-1400b with 5 cxb3590 3500ºk 36V CD on it...or stay with the now famous configuration hlg-185-1400b with 4 cxb! 250 or 200w
