I'm guessing people don't like topping/fimming autos because of the limited amount of time they have to veg?

Yea, but I'd rather have a slightly smaller, "trainable" plant with buds where I want them than a Christmas tree with lots of larf.

Fimming isn't very stressful at all when done right and allows for auto "training" when it starts to bush a bit.

Just my thoughts.

Ime with autos they never really get tall enough to have lard issues. Even the biggest ones I've run end up around 3ft. These are some autos I'm running right now. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1452017064.499080.jpg

Larf, as in popcorn buds. Sorry, that's terminology around here.

To me, the canopy is what makes or breaks your yield. That's why I prefer the light training on autos. The flatter and wider, the better.

Personally, I don't care for them which is why I don't run them anymore. Not a one and done kind of guy I guess.

I understand larf. Just doesn't happen much if you get light all the way down. I do trim off laggy undergrowth during my cycle. I run them when I'm vegging because I have a ton of freebies so it's a good use of space. That way when they finish my photos will have more space/light.

Looks like you're having a good run. Smart move with the veg tent. If you fim, you won't need to cut off bottom bud sites (larf). They fill in. The only other cuttings I do on autos is defoliation IF NEEDED, but that causes another shit stirring argument.

They just don't appeal to me. Can't clone them, I've tried breeding them with incredibly unstable results (photo male pollen), and sometimes finicky as hell. Just not my cup of tea.

As long as you're happy with them, more power to ya.

When this order arrives, I'll start making journals and order some autos. I have no current grow pics so I have no rep to hold my own and give advice that most would consider worth a fuck. I will get autos again just for the hell of it though.

I only run autos when I'm starting a new cycle. All of the autos I have were gifted to me so I feel like why not have a few extra oz while I veg out my current crop. It ends up a little crowded right before the autos finish, but then they come out and my photos get a huge moist in light/space.

Yea, that's definitely the best way to go about it. I just run all autos in their own tent because I run a different light schedule and I don't want competition in my flowering or veg tent haha.

I like the setup though, just for some extra bud in between. I might give it a try and just move them to another tent when they flower.

I wouldnt supercrop, but the not training (just let them do there thing)autos thing is bullshit. They benefit from training(lst)just like a pheno plant.Thing with autos is,do your training early,2nd or 3rd node as you want the plant pretty much set before budset.Ive had pretty good success with early fims as well.

I wouldnt fim or defol at most id lst. Defoliation just a silly practice unless the leaves are severally damaged
Defoliation works well when applied well, just like anything else. Fimming is no different either. You just have to treat autos like they have an expiration date. Use it up while you can before it starts to expire.

There is no logical explanation behind defloliation.sun hits the cloraphil..plant gets its energy.unless her leaves are damaged you've no need to defoliate
