well i am stuck in the USA ....no passport well mexico and canada i think my drivers id is good enough well it was back in the day not sure anymore

when 9/11 happened america was very quick to make the switch where you must have a passport to enter canada or leave canada. even via bridge border,
the only time you can get away without a passport is if you have a nexus card, which is solely only for canadians/americans, it can however be updated to have retina scans so you can fly with it but a passport must be attached to the nexus card anyways.

I have both a passport and a nexus card, the only time i use my nexus card is when i cross the border because i can go through a faster line as nexus cards are trusted traveller programs where both countries agree you are not a threat at all and can be quickly processed through airports and border lanes

Im not sure how it works in america but in canada, you can fly anywhere within your own country without a passport and just regular ID but the second you try or attempt to get in TSA /CUSTOMS without a passport they will turn you around and you will have lost out on money (via flights)

if you were to drive to canada you would have to have either a nexus card or a passport to get into the country, and get back into america your country.
