how is it fair when those making less are having to give up so much, while those making more have to give up nothing?

someone making $150k a year gets a tax bill for 10% of their income, and they have to choose between a new car or a vacation in the bahamas.

someone making $20k a year gets a tax bill for 10% of their income, and they have to choose between feeding themselves or paying rent.

i really would like you to explain to me how it is fair for those who have so little to be saddled with a greater burden than those that hav so much.

The problem with your assertion is it is not in proper context and is blatantly contradictory.

The basis of your "society" is to compel people under force to be part of a herd. That is NOT leaving people alone.

Your model compels people to do things, under threat of force for noncompliance...therefore you are stealing from them.

Your "government" doesn't allow other possibilities to compete or co-exist and uses force to prevent any alternatives... therefore you are nullifying others rights and acting in a manner that declares you (your society) have superior rights.

When you remove a peaceful individuals choice NOT TO BELONG, and to seek alternatives of their own choice, you become the thief.

Also I think you confuse your coercion based governmental institution for society, they are not the same.

Exactly, if they MUST be paid, no other method is more fair. Every version I've seen involves a amount of income that can be earned before the taxes kick in, usually around $22k. An individual earning $30k/yr would pay the flat tax (let's use 10%) on just $8k or about $800. A person making $200k/yr would pay the flat tax on $178k or $17,800. The lower earning citizen is paying roughly 2.6% of their income, where the higher earning citizen is paying 8.9% and isn't given a thousand loopholes to get to a lower percentage.

It's common fucking sense really. Not to mention the billions that can be saved on the size and scope of the IRS agency, not to mention money saved by citizens on tax preparation.

Simplicity and fairness, without huge bureaucracy. Gee, I wonder why libs hate it?

No, it doesn't, I just demonstrated that fact. Poor people would pay nothing, low income people would pay very little. Rich people would pay through the nose, with no means to thwart paying their fair share. How awful.

Gun laws are already a go. Gov't controlled health care sucks, should be near free for everyone (socialist's policy is okay there). Insurance companies barred from taking your fucking money for health care, only for property / life insurance. Taxes should be fair. Zero for anyone under 100K except a scale to help pay for health care, 20% to 50% up to 5 Million indexed. Corporations (CHURCHES if they're political) pay their fair share now that they don't have to supply healthcare. Tax the Wally Street capital gains the same at 20% min., now its 12% I think. Working people are already paying sales tax and other basic payroll taxes, but with this plan just a small charge for healthcare. Free burial. I'm getting old.
