Question on temps/humidity in grow room vs veg

Hey everyone....

So it's winter and I'm struggling to keep temps up in my basement veg room. Temp is around 60 w/50% humidity. Its more humid in the basement than upstairs. Should I add a space heater or something? Or maybe a light that creates more heat (vegging with fluros)? My last plant nearly died when I moved it to the flower room....it's 80° with 30% humidity.

Also, is it too stressful to the plant to switch from fluorescent lights (veg) to 1000whps (flower)? I now dim my hps to 50% for a few days when I move plants into flower room to give them time to acclimate to the higher temps and light intensity.

60 degrees is cold for light on temps. You want them around 77% lights on. Yes a little heater with a tempeture control will solve your issue. I grow in the basement as well in cold weather.

A cheaper option if you don't mind a little DIY is an stc-1000 temp control. I use it to control temps when fermenting beer works great and is half the price or less than the one posted. You need to supply the power cable and the electrical receptacle as well as wire it yourself though. Not difficult and all the wiring and walk through are available on line

I have that also I didn't know if he wanted to house it and all. It is the best and much cheaper.

It has a temp wire so you can have it outside your grow room. This way you can always monitor your temps.

You need a thermostat controller on that heater. Or your temps will be all over the place.

homedepot lowes have elect heaters with thermostat 50 bucks

I would raise your bloom room RH to around 45 and not go below 40.
Once you have added heat in the veg. area. The RH will change - monitor that.

why not use another light for heat so u get double use from it. most space heaters use 750 low -1500 watts on high...a 600 watt light is cheaper n you plants will love it.

I had the same problem you were if you can add more lights vs a space heater since they will be more better for you, I swapped out a 600 watt for the 2 1000's and was perfect temps all the time

Switching from flour lights to hid can def shock the plants. You've got the right idea. Dim the light and raise it high as possible for a week or so t harden them off
