Connecting wire to Ideal COB holder 50-2303CR

Hi,

For some reason I thought the COB holders used screws for the electric contacts. Nope... I am looking at the Ideal COB holder's female plug in front of me and not sure how to wire to it without a mating plug.

Looking at the plug itself, it seems to be common for their holders so what do I do with two holes, run a wire to each and make a Y to the driver or just use one wire? Any particular type of wire/connection that works better?

I'm guessing there's no problems removing the wires if I want to use the holder on a different panel?

One hole in each for the wire, the other to insert a pin to release the wire.

Make sure to line up the positive mark on the COB with the positive mark on the holder.

@taz Thanks. Never thought that would be the way this would go. I'm used to the connectors where you press on a tab on the outside of the plug, to release the connector. Never ran into one where you press a pin in to remove it. Seems like the 2nd would get caught & be locked in. Good to know what to do, no instructions came along with it.

Cap's right, if iv'e had one or two not spring to life it's been from the cob / holder arm either not aligned well enough or with random paste getting in.

I just use a paperclip end as a pin.

Tinning the end of your wires helps too.

I have both stranded & solid wire but not sure which gauge solid wire best fits. I'll try the tinned stranded first, I think my solid wires look to be too thin & too thick.

Either hole is fine (not what she said) It's just held in by tension. The second hole is for running multiple leds in parallel

Not true. The 2 white plastic connectors have 2 holes. They're there for the off chance someone wanted to run in parallel in a more "wire saving" format.
To RELEASE the wire once you've inserted it or two Into the hole or both holes, is to use a 1mm width metal pole "A safety pin opened up with the sharp pin end worked wonders for me", and insert it DIRECTLY ABOVE the wire inserted in the hole/slot. This releases the bite bar and you can then pull the wire out of the, as Growmau5 would say, "Chinese finger trap".

Yeah I had to insert a safety pin just above the wire to get it to release the wire, I tried the other hole and it didn't work (I know, definitely what she said). Also, you don't need to tin solid core wire for these.
