The f13671 ange rz lens on ledil reflector should raise case temps a little. May be around 5C. Not a big deal. The 7%-10% light lost is more important to consider.

People keep talking about light losses thru the lens, but if it's focused and getting where it needs to go that's more important.

Such is the lesson I'm getting loud n clear from my girls in veg, where half got a module with lenses and the other half got one without.

We were talking about the RZ diffuser lens. It does not foccus light. Just goes into ledil reflector.

Great to know focusing lens work great for you.

Not sure about your setup but here is something to consider. If you have half tent with reflector/Lens and the other half without lens then you may get baised results because light from bare cob spreads and will spread to side with reflector/lens. However the light from reflector/lens side may not spread to side with no optics.

Not a tent, walls aren't very reflective and the modules are end to end, not a lot of crossover.
 
Focusing lens "increase penetration" by increasing the concentration of light so that after transmittance, there is more left.

The ledil RZ is the exact opposite...it's a diffuser(not clear) and spreads and/or scatters the light and "increases penetration" by increasing direct biomass exposure via more angles of attack and distribution into the canopy.

They all suffer a loss somewhere but they are surprisingly similar in transmitting.

My very informal, ad hoc test is between CXB3590 with 80 degree lenses and bare.

I'm getting much better results under the lenses, I don't pretend to know enough about optics to venture any explanations.

Not trying to be a smart-ass, just trying to be clear.

It's not an easy thing to be, it seems.
 
In a room that is highly reflective with a luxury level of ppfd and loads of clearance do reflectors or lenses offer any advantage?

Ive been testing out lens off lens on for a while but I'm not really getting a read on it.

Raising the lights to 20-24" elicited a positive response quickly.

There are a few schools of thought on clearance. I was mostly operating under the assumption closeness / intensity should be maximized. I had been experimenting with various heights. I came across a post where greengenes talked about the benefit of permitting a decent clearance. It sounded like the voice of experience so I raised my lamp 4 inches. After 24 hrs plants looked more vibrant. I currently keep a 20-24 inch clearance. Some plants dont seem to be as effected by the intensity. They will grow directly into the light. Others, i think, were stunted by the irradiance.
